Suppressors one can for all?

I am interested in acquiring my first can, I really want it to be a one for all kind of deal. I shoot a lot of 9mm and 5.56 in competition and am working on my .308 precision for future matches. is there anyone who makes a can that could be switched between all my nato rounds?

I have seen pics of people who have swapped a silencerco osprey between a pistol and AR. But a .308 might be to much for a pistol type suppressor.

There's plenty of manufactures that offer what you're looking for...however, attaching a can built for a rifle with a QD mount onto a pistol may prove problematic.
For a precision rifle though, I'm a firm believer that a direct-thread can is the way to go.....I personally have a direct-thread for my bolt gun and a QD 30cal can for everything else....but anyway.

You could purchase an AAC SDN-7 30cal QD can and put the QD attachments on all of your rifles that are 30cal or smaller.

I would recommend you get a separate pistol can (in 45 cal) so you can attach it to your pistol(s) that are .45cal and smaller (you'll need to make sure you can get the right thread for all of your calibers before you settle on a specific can).

If you plan to have a suppressor for pistol and rifle use make sure it has a Nielsen device. If you use a can without one on a semi-auto pistol it might not cycle properly. Silencerco also offers a fixed barrel spacer for use on rifles or pistols with fixed barrels.

Unfortunately finding a suppressor that can be used on multiple platforms with different calibers will not be as efficient. You will have to make compromises to find one that does all.

It could probably be done, but its a bad idea - especially mixing pistols and rifles with one can. Simply too much compromising involved. Decide what you want to suppress the most and then buy the best can for that weapon. Then save your money and repeat. You'll be much happier in the end this way.

So mixing pistol and rifle is a bad idea... that makes since especially with the velocity difference. Maybe the first one should be one for the ar's and for the .308 all in one can and see if a pistol one it necessary from there. thanks for your help everyone.

You could purchase an AAC SDN-7 30cal QD can and put the QD attachments on all of your rifles that are 30cal or smaller.

I have one of these and use it on 556 -6.8 and 308. Each rifle has a QD flash suppressor. I think with a QD suppressor you loose a little on accuracy. My .75 MOA rifle seems to go to about 1.25 MOA with the suppressor attached. I think a permantly attached suppressor would offer better accuracy but for my it works well enough.

since you are talking about precision rifles, id go with a thread on. i recommend the 30p-1. I looked at all of them and landed on that model for mine.

for the pistol, a Ti-Rant 9 or Osprey will be about the same, its up to you which one to buy.

Finding a can thats big enough for a 9mm bullet, and also works well on 5.56 caliber rounds is going to be a pretty call order. I think that the two-can route is where you will land. that and once you have one, im sure you will want another.

I know a lot of people will use one suppressor for all of their rifles,. AND THAT IS FINE, I am not one of those people, I much prefer to have a suppressor for each caliber I am shooting with a rifle. So for me it's .30 cal cans on my .30 cal rifles,. 5.56mm for 5.56mm,. etc etc. My AK's (7.62x39 & 5.45x39) are the only exception to this as they all use the same 7.62x39 suppressor.

Now for pistols I am all about using one can for everything. You will find that with most newer pistol suppressors you can use a .45cal can with sub caliber pistons/ adapters to suppress your .40S&W and 9mm pistols. I went with the AAC Ti-Rant 45 and I believe you will look closely at that can or the Osprey 45.

The only suppressor that I use on both pistol and rifle a AAC Pilot in .22LR,. but I got tired of constantly using the one can between three different guns so I bought another cheapie suppressor for the one and will use the Ti-Rant with a sub caliber piston on the other until I get another dedicated .22LR can.
