do yall shoot with one or two eyes open? i have always shot shotguns with both eyes open and closed one when firing rifles. Darrel Holland says shoot with both eyes open, allows for a larger FOV to see if you hit your target or not and your eyes focus better when theyre both open. maybe this is more for hunting rather than targets where you know the paper isn't going to run off after you shoot and miss?

Both eyes open if you can do it for both a rifle scope and a spotting scope. The main thing that I notice is less eye fatigue, especially on the spotting scope.

I have to shoot one eye closed. I'm a right handed shooter and left eye dominant, both open screws me up. Not sure if this is rectified via training or not.

Both eyes open. It allows for a more relaxed position as well as better periphial vision. It can be learned with practice and focus.

you need to shoot left handed. my dad and sister are right handed left eye dominant and it helped them tremendously. you have to start all over and its very frustrating but ive been told by many ppl its the only way to get to your full potential.

I am left eye dominant but shoot right handed. My answer would be both eyes open for either scope or open sights. More relaxed and this practice comes from my target FITA archery training of shooting open sights with both eyes open.

I guess I am the lone ranger here. I only open my left eye to look at the level on the gun. I shoot with my left eye closed. I am left eye dominant as well. I have no interest in shooting left handed.

Both.
It may require some training, but it is worth it.
To the guys that are having problems shooting with both eyes open: Orient your flip cap to block the view of your left eye, then you should not have any focus conflict issues.

I shoot with both eyes open with everything!! I shot alot of trap growing up and now i dont like to close one eye. Its a habbit i guess.

In the little training that I've had have learn to shoot everything handguns , rifles and shotguns with both eyes open. Once you get use to it it becomes simple and just the normal thing to do.

I feel your pain, so many years of right-handedness and now all this "left eye dominance" stuff. I shoot both eyes open on all weapons. This is especially difficult for pistol (I still cheat and shoot right handed and lean my head over for my left eye)

I shoot irons/pistols/red dots with both eyes open. I haven't tried much shooting thru a scope with both eyes open yet, but I will eventually give it a go. However, when shooting with both eyes open thru magnification, isn't it a bit harder to perceive slight movement with the scoped eye? Just inquiring, not suggesting.

I will switch in and out personally, I use both eyes to find and track targets, then switch to single eye for the actual shot. Then back open to mark game/ reaquire.
I shoot a ton of sporting clays so both eyes open is most natural for me, but one eye closed helps me focus.

I try most of the time to shoot with both eyes but sometimes my left eye overcomes my right eye and I have to close my left again to regain focus on my right eye (does that make sense). Also when im closing my left eye for a long time my eyes get fatigued. Maybe I should start wearing an eye patch.
