So I wondering from folks with past experience, is the left hand base a must? or can one get away with a rgt hand base? I'm wanting to do things "right the first time" so if the "lefty" is the way to go, I'm good with that. Also what the conciseness in "upgrading" the #6-48 base screws to #8-40, is this a worthwhile improvement or upgrade? Thanks

I think some of them aren't specific about what side the ejection port is on.

I'm a lefty and think the last one I used was a night force that wasn't labeled as left or right hand. Got it from Midway USA.

Definitely go with the NF base.

The newer versions are GTG for Left or RIght hand actions.

Another reason to go with the NF version is that it is one of the few that has the recoil lug machined into the bottom.
If you use a base like the NF, Seekins or NEAR with that feature, I would definitely NOT worry about upgrading to 8-40 screws.

Be safe,

I have a left hand seekens , have had no problems. Price was about $100 I left the stock 6-48 on a 700 243 with about 1300 rounds on it . Never lossend up. I don't thing you need to go to 8-40 unless your shooting a magnum cartage
