Now reality check. The reason why I want a QD Mount is I'm planning on getting a Larue Discreat Bag for my 16" DPMS, so to use it, I'll need a QD Mount to take the scope on and off for storage in the bag.
Now for the 20MOA, I'm planning on running a Vortex Viper PST FFP 3-16x50mm Scope on my 16" DPMS. My plans are pretty much 800 Yrds MAX with realistically speaking 300-500 yrd mid range. Just wondering if the 20 MOA is really Needed for this?
For the Armalite AR10 20", I'm planning on building a 1,000 yrd Semi Auto Rig (Yea, it's more of a want than need type of thing). The scope I'll be using is a Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50mm with the G2 Reticles. I'm thinking I might need a 20 MOA for sure on this one, but maybe not so much on the 16". Let me know what you guys think? Thanks a lot everyone! </div></div>
Given your uses and the optics you'll be mounting:
1) while the PST in question has a total of 75MOA and will probably be enough to get you out to 800yds with a variety of different ammo from a 16" tube, I think that the ADM 20MOA mount would be and excellent choice given your goals/needs/wants;
2) For a precision semi-auto like what your goals are for the 20" barreled Armalite, I go back to my previous statement on the Badger 22MOA riser and rings. Since you don't NEED the QD capability on that rifle, I'd stick to more of a fixed mounting solution be it with the Unimount or the Badger setup I suggested. Now...with that said...the ADM QD mount will still serve you well in that role if you want to keep the mounts the same between your rifles. One way or the other...you'll want the addt'l 20MOA (or 22MOA) with your 1k rifle.</div></div>
Hi Bro! Thanks for the Response!
The Vortex Viper PST I'll be using will have the MRAD turrents, but yes, I believe the 20MOA QD Mount will probably be the Ideal Unit for my 16" Setup. The way I see it, it's better to have it and not need it than the other way around. And as a Long Term Equipment Investment, I think the 20MOA QD Mount will last me a Long Time.
As for the 20" LR AR10, I doubt I'll be doing any 3 Gun Comp or CQC with it LOL. I've also seen WEAVER makes a 20MOA AR Flat Top base as well (kind of works like the Night Force Unit). I have WEAVER Tactical 20MOA Base on both of my Remington 700 Bolt Guns and it's actually a very good quality product. Maybe I'll go that round and save couple of coins towards the glass and ammo. Last but not least, I NEED A LOT MORE SHOOTING TIME with Semiautos...
