Is it legal, I know not during archery only season for sure. I have looked all over and have not found a definite answer. I have a chl so I will have one anyway just figured it would be easier to draw open if being charged by a hog or whatever. But I know the law is not always on the side of convenience.

It is unlawful to be in possession of a firearm while hunting with a broadhead HUNTING point during the Archery-Only season, except a person licensed to carry a concealed handgun in Texas may carry a concealed handgun.

This is strait from TPWD.... you can NOT carry OPEN during archery season.... does not matter if the land is private or public
