I am pretty quiet on here, mostly I read and research. But now I have a question and most of you are very up front if you know something.
    Here is the situation.
Neighbor and his BIL built an AR when they thought Hilly was going to win. BIL housed the rifle.
Now, nagging wife thinks rifle should be converted to cash.
I am mostly a bolt action shooter and don’t know everything.
The rifle is an Anderson Lower bought from a local gun store. The upper is a complete upper from Del Ton.
    My question;
Is Del Ton pretty reputable for quality? Bbl is a 20” heavy in a floated grip with a flat top.
He seems to want to take a beating on the price, to the point I am thinking hard about it.
Let me know all y’all thoughts
    Thanks

i have the exact same setup except i have the 16" Hbar......for the money it is really pretty good.

so far as im concerned delton is good to go

I agree with diverdon, if you can shoot it first that's the best way to go. Anderson and Del-Ton both have turned out tons of ARs and parts. Both companies turn out good products from what I can tell. I've been buying and selling ARs since back when the only companies selling them were Colt, Armalite and Bushmaster. My first newly purchased rifle was a Bushmaster 20" HBAR. I love ARs and have way more of them than bolt guns. Lucky for me the market is flooded with rifles and parts right now so they can be had for a very reasonable price.

If it's a price you cant pass up, grab it. They are a really fun rifle and it will give you the opportunity to learn about the AR system.

By the sounds of it the upper and lower were bought during the buildup to the election when prices were a little to a lot higher that they are now. None of us ever think what we bought and did not use is worth less than what we paid for it, so he may want more money than you can buy the exact upper and lower for today.

Long story short: Find what you want in stock today for pricing info and don't spend more than that for the labor of putting an upper oa lowe, a 3 minute job in the dark by a one-handed man.

The last guy I know that bought a Del-Ton AR found that it had some jamming issues when fresh out of the box. I'll have to find out what it's like now that he has taken my advice and done a lot of cleaning, scrubbing, oiling, wiping and working the bolt back and forth.

Yea I've had a couple of the cheaper barrels have jamming problems. Not delton per se but ive found the majority of the time it's just rough finishing. The barrel extension will have sharp edges, etc. I'll lube it up with Ballistol and run the bolt carrier about a hundred times. If you do it in the living room or kitchen it really works for pissing off the old lady. Just check it over. I would say with it having a Del-Ton lower and an Anderson upper the barrel/bcg/etc is either Anderson or pieced together like all my builds are. If you want an AR nows the time to get one, while the getting is good.

Delton might not be top of the line but the couple I know of go bang every time, accurate enough for defensive issues. I don't own one but a couple family members do.
Personally the wife is an idiot but i know a few like that. All they see is the money you have tied up in things, ask that bitch how much she has tied up in shoes. I have one friend who is not allowed to have more than 5 firearms at a time. He wants to try something new he has to sell one first. luckly I am not in that boat.

So I met him and shot the rifle. I have a vortex in a one piece mount that I put on it. With my hand loads it seemed to be MOA. So I bought it.

That’s not a bad price at all. Both Anderson and Delton are more on the lower end of the spectrum but that doesn’t mean they can’t be nice. See how it shoots and if it seems to be a shooter I’d snag it up.
