I'm looking to connect a Harris bipod to a picatinny railed foreend. I'd also like QD capability to move the bipod from rifle to rifle. I'm also looking for something that doesn't add a lot of additional height to the overall setup.

I've looked at the LaRue and ADM mounts but they seemed to add a lot of height. Are there any other options I should consider?

I have the LaRue. It does add a little height, but from most positions, the extra 3/4" is welcome.

So far, I've been very satisfied with my QD from LaRue and wish to fit my bolt-actions with picatanny rails to make changes more quickly.

Re: Opinions for Harris bipod on Picatinny Rail w QD

The Larue/Harris is really nice, I had them on two rifles, both semi autos.
Quick switch between, SPRish and GPRish, I mean seconds.
Lightens the load, quickly for off hand.

I've recently switched to Atlas bipods. My semis now have ADM/Atlas QR Bipods, which all in all I like better.

So Larue/Harris is really good, but don't rule out:

The ADM has a button lock (so the mount can't accidentally release), and a tool less tension adjustment.

I like the ADM/Harris a little better than the Larue/Harris, and ADM/Atlas the best.

FWIW

Look into the Atlas Bipod. Even with the ADM mount and adding a rail to my rifle the the Atlas sets 1/2" to 3/4" lower than the Harris mounted to a swivel stud. They are spendy but trust me you will love this bipod.

For mounting a Harris to a Picatinny Rail, there is no lower or more stabile mount than a Larue LT706, PERIOD. This is because the LT706 eliminates the adapter block and bipod stud assembly that most manufacturers use for adapting Harris bipods to picatinny rails, as well as the "saddle"/cradle on which the rifle's forearm normally rests. These parts are replaced with the low profile LT706 QD Mount, lowering the height and enhancing stability.

Larue sells the LT706 Mount by itself ($79.00 each) or complete with Harris bipods in their Harris + LT706 QD Swivel Mount "Combos" ($177.95). I bought a <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">"Harris BRM-S + LT706 QD Swivel Mount Combo"</span></span> before, but have since just bought the LT706 QD Swivel Mount alone since then and converted existing Harris bipods.

There IS one thing that I hate about the LT706 Combos' as they come from Larue - the knob that adjusts the swivel pivot tension is huge, and theres' no room to grasp the knob to be able to turn it. Ridicolous. I use KMW Pod Locs anyway so not a problem for me, but be forwarned if you decide to by a Combo rather than purchasing the LT-706 Mounts bare. Below are some photos of an older Harris BRM-S + LT706 QD Swivel Mount "Combo" with the factory Larue Pivot Tension Knob on the rail of my LWRC M6A2-S and a Gen 1 KMW Pod Loc. You can see that the Pod Loc provides much better access for adjustment. Check-out my post below this post for photos of the newer style Harris BRM-S + LT706 QD Swivel Mount "Combo" attached to the ACCU-SHOT BT28 on the Anschutz Rail of my Tac Ops X-Ray 51. The newer LT706 Mount has a built-in Locking Tab.

In all fairness though, the ATLAS Bipods have a big pivot tension knob too - and it is mounted right in the crotch of the bipod and it is also a PITA to turn. That is one reason I didn't go with ATLAS'. A Harris equipped with a Pod Loc is much more easily adjusted when in position than an ATLAS is.

Below are some photos of a Harris BRM-S + LT706 QD Swivel Mount "Combo" I bought complete from Larue installed on my LWRC M6A2-S. I now use the newer version of the LT-706 Mount with a built-in Locking Tab (not that the Locking Tab was needed), but I wanted all of my picatinny mount bipods to match so I bought five LT706 mounts and sold my Harris BRM-S + LT706 QD Swivel Mount "Combo". I primarily mount Harris BRM-S + LT706 QD Swivel Mount "Combo" on the quad rail of my LWRC M6A2-S and on the ACCU_SHOT BT28 AFAR on my Tac Ops X-Ray 51, but I also have LT-706 + LM-S Combos' for both of them when I need a bit more elevation (where I shoot you are almost always shooting uphill, and the more distant targets require more front elevation).

I have a DLOC mount on one of mine. It doesn't add much height and they have a newer version available which has a smaller footprint.

Thanks <span style="font-style: italic">judgedelta</span>. As I said earlier in this thread, the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Harris Bipod BRM-S and LT706 QD Swivel Mount Combo</span></span> can be bought directly from LaRue Tactical ($177.95). If you already have "S" Series (Swivel) Harris bipods you can buy bare LT706 QD Mounts ($79.00 each) from LaRue and convert your existing bipods into "Combos" yourself. Call or email Tyler Guyett at LaRue Tactical to order. Tyler's contact info is below:

The KMW Pod-Loc can be bought from any number of places such as <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Triad Tactical</span></span>, <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Bauer Arms</span></span>, and <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Brownell's</span></span>. I know that Triad has the Gen 2 Pod-Loc in stock at $22.95 each. Here is a <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">List of Pod-Loc Stocking Dealers from KMW's web site</span></span>. Whomever you buy the Pod-Loc from, I recommend buying several since you're going to wind-up paying $8.00 or more on shipping and Pod-Locs are hard-to-find in "brick & mortar" stores.

Re: Opinions for Harris bipod on Picatinny Rail w QD

I run the Harris with LaRue Mount and KMW PodLock... the knob that came with the LaRue i did not like at all... very hard to get tight like I wanted it... KMW allows for more control of your tension.

I wish Harris made a softer / grippy rubber foot for their bipods, only complaint about the Harris are the feet.
