I have a Remington 700 5r in .308 that I chose as my first precision rifle. One of the first things I would like to fix on the rifle is the trigger. It seemed fine dry firing it in the living room, but when I actually fire it at the range I am finding the pull very inconsistent. The pull goes from barely acceptable one shot, to it feeling like I'm pulling a concrete block with my finger. In fact I've stopped the pull a few times to make sure the safety isn't on.
I'm pretty much decided on the CG X-treme Mod 22 2 stage trigger. What I would like opinions on is which model. Is the reversible trigger shoe or the tactical trigger shoe model the way to go for me?
The rifle will mostly be a range gun. Rough ranges sometimes, with walking rough (ish) ground to get to the firing position. and some hunting.
Thoughts?
