I am thinking of buying this scope (5-25X56) and wondered what is the opinion of those who have one? I am fine with 2nd FP and am more concerned with resolution, tracking ability and clarity of glass. I know it is not in the same league as a S&B, Kahles, etc but how close is it?
Will it be OK out to 1500 yards?

Anyone have an idea what ring height I should use on a Sako TRG 42

I think they are a very good scope. I have 2 of them. You won't be disappointed!!! I would look at Barrett ExRings. The 15/40 MOA are probably what you are going to need if you plan to shoot ELR.

fantastic optic!

I think it is a fantastic piece of equipment! Jay W. of Sports Optics took good care of me, even mounted it for me. NightForce may not be considered top tier to some, but you can't argue with their reputation for reliability, repeatability, and now they are in the glass game with their new line of ED glass.

Best 2k I've spent on glass. I have not had the pleasure of using a S&B, but several buddies (Out of state) who have S&B have looked through mine and said the two are very comparable. Mike from CStactical took great care of me. You can find him on here under CStactical.

We sell quite a bit of Nightforce. The ATACR has replaced the NXS 5.5-22 as their best selling scope by a pretty big margin. The numbers speak for themselves. Customers are willing to pay the extra $$ because the optical quality is that good over the NXS. They tracking, repeatablility, dependability, and more importantly the consistance of the Nighforce rifle scopes are proven and you have plenty of travel to get you out that far (120 MOA of total travel is what they list).

On a TRG you would want to use the UL Medium 34mm rings.

Call us or PM me if you have any questions.

I bought one just after new years 2014 it is mounted on my remington custom build in 338lapua mag. I had murphy precision make a 60 moa mount to use as much of the internal elevation there is 8 moa down adjustment with a 100 yard zero I should have went with 65 moa. I used Badger 1.275 ar rings could have used a little shorter but was tired of looking. Now the scope it self is fantastic glass is clear adjustments crisp and spot on i want to get a second one for my DTA SRS. I guess try to get a look through one before you buy but it will work fine out well passed 1500 yards. Nightforce spec on the atcar is 120 moa elevation min has 131 moa on the turret bottomed to the top of its travel. Mine came from Tractus Arms great deal.

Not sure if this picture helps much but here is one of my setup. 110ba, 30moa murphys rail, med nf rings, atacr. I havent had shot much through the new glass but from what i have i am overly happy with it. It is ridiculously clear and with the amount of travel i will easily be able to reach out past 1 mile.

Yup it's great. Get one. I have a S&B PMII 5x25x56 that is maybe a little easier to center your eye in the eye box, and a tiny bit brighter on 25x but I love my ATACR
