Im am trying to decide between a Ops Inc 12th model or a AAC M4-2000. It will be on my ar15 with a 16" barrel for now. I would like to have one with a long enought flash suppressor or com. to make a 14.5" midlength barrel 16" when permanitly attached. The Ops is kinda looking good for a future SPR build. Any help would be great.

Re: Ops Inc or AAC HELP ME

Two totally different suppressors for two totally different purposes--have both. Under 16"--M4200; SPR/18"--Ops Inc.

Re: Ops Inc or AAC HELP ME

Sorry I guess what I need to know is will the Ops Inc work on a 14.5" with a midlength gas system. And witch in your opinion is the better suppressor for the money. I really dont care about length or weight as they are not a issue. I just want the most durable can that still has good noise reduction.

Re: Ops Inc or AAC HELP ME

if your gonna run a 14.5" barrel I would go AAC
The OPS Inc your going to wait for awhile and its pretty heavy. I think they are built more for longer barrels, precision rigs.

Yeah it will, we ran one on 14.5 16 and 18" barrels. You can have the SPR specific can "12th MBS" and just toss it on your 14.5" if the sleeve or slope is cut the same as the 18" barrel.

13.5" or shorter barrels need to use the shorter cans designed for them specifically.

Call Adco http://www.adcofirearms.com/ they have done about every configuration.

Re: Ops Inc or AAC HELP ME

Thanks for the info. If I went with the Ops Inc I was just going to have the same break and collor on my 14.5 and my 18. Will the Ops break make my 14.5 the legal 16" if it is pinned?

Two crush washers on each barrel instead of just the one they give you gets you past 16.+

Two stacked is .270 crush to .23 or .24 pin it and your set.

Really? They do not include a QD mount with their cans?

Yeah, they changed it early last year. My 762SD did not come with a mount. Following in Surfires footsteps. Not only did they jack up the price on their suppressors, now you also get less product too.

Re: Ops Inc or AAC HELP ME

Yep, Ops Inc does make one of the best suppressors on the market.

Re: Ops Inc or AAC HELP ME

Do NOT use crush washers with the OPS Inc break or flash suppressors if you intend to actually use them with a can. Use a precision cut shim. You are asking for trouble if you go the crush washer route.

The OPS brakes come with crush washers, its a non issues because of the two point mount.

Re: Ops Inc or AAC HELP ME

Nice looking rig dmtsc. Thats what im looking to do with mine. I do have a question thought. I seen that Ops Inc makes a flash suppressor as well, will it work with the 12th model or will just the break work? I was also thinking about the 14th model. But if I am going to do a MK12 MOD0 build in the near future I would like to just keep with the 12th.

The flash hider will work with the 12th, I chose the brake so the 12.5" barrel will not kill my can. I also have one of those little Ops Inc M4-S cans that Adco Firearms sells on the way so the blast doesn't kill me when not running the 12th.

Re: Ops Inc or AAC HELP ME

I have the brake an collar set that came with the can. I also bought the flash hider and collar from ADCO for use with an M4 barrel. Neither of these came with a crush washer and I was told in no uncertain terms that use of the crush washer with the flash suppressor was not recommended. That being said, you've obviously been using it with your can with no problems so it seems it worked out just fine in your case. As long as it's working I guess I wouldn't worry about it.
