could an independent lab not test scopes using computer-aided equipment to PROVE and compare the various qualities of high-end optics? edge-to-edge clarity, resolution, chromatic aberration and the various other nuances of optics? Then this could be published online and updated periodically as technology changes.
you could perhaps submit your own scope and have it tested and returned with a printout showing how it performed in the various categories. (since no two scopes are likely to be identical).
