OPTICS?

Ok I know this topic has probablly been talked to death but hear it goes.... I have recently purchased a AR-10 S.S.A.S.S and want to get a scope for it but dont want to spend over 800... I know what your going to say about spending as much on your optics as the gun but the gun broke me. I will be using the gun for deer and praire dogs out to 500 yards maybe more if the oppertunity presents it self. What do you guys recomend?

I recently put a SWFA SS 3x9x42 on my 6.8 and love it. It's FFP mil/mil. There is/was a banner ad floating around here with a code for $60 off making it an even better deal.

You can also poke around in the "for sale" section and grab a deal on a used scope that most likely will be like new.

First this should have been placed in the optics section.
The Sightron SIIIs are great for the money and would work for what you have said you are going to be using it for.

Vortex PST scopes, Bushnell FFP 4200 series, Sightron S3, someone else can probably suggest some others.

check out the Vortex Viper series. Not the PST, but just the Viper. You can get a new 1 for 400 and up depending on whether you want a 44 or 50mm. I got a 44 and I am very pleased with the glass for the cash! Falcon seems to be very good as well in the same price range.

Short of that I have a Simmons 44mag on my 6.5 and it has functioned flawlessly. It only cost 140! Primary Arms is another one in the 150 range that is decent for that price.

I personally am not impressed with SS. I believe that there is alot better optics available in their price range, but that is my opinion. I think I'd rather have a Wotac than an SS. Check Wonderoptics for those, about 300. Goodluck
