Rifle Scopes Options for compact high magnification scope for ar other than s&b

Looking for a smaller size optics with higher magnification something 18x to 25x to go on an 18” ar build I am finishing. The s&b compact is not in the budget for this build. Would like to be in the 500-1500 price range

I would not spend $$ on a S&B for a 5.56 build either, and I am a scope dealer. Pheew. $500 puts you in the Steiner PX4 1-4x, and I think that is too low a mag. $1,500, and I would look for a used NF NXS 2nd FP, or a Steiner T5Xi 3-15x.

I know, I know, there are lots of other scopes, but given the platform and the budget and my second glass of wine, that is what I came up with vis-a-vis a short list.

Used Bushnell HDMR 2. Probably as good as you’re gonna get in that price range.

I'd consider Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6-18x44.

I will second the Bushnell HDMR II, it is nice compact scope.

Leupold mark 5 is a very nice Scope. I think the reticle selection makes it ideal for an AR. I would probably go Tremor 3 for your purpose. You may find a Steiner T5XI for less but it’s a slightly lower magnification range than you listed. Mark 5 is a little over budget..

The Burris XTR 2 is well under budget and there’s a 4-20 with H59 in the for sale section for less than 1k.. but it’s not a compact optic.

All is compromise.. NVM XTR2 is sold.
