Ordering a GAP-10?

After pondering th e last few weeks between LMT, REPR, and GAP. I've decided to take the plunge and wait time of a 20" GAP-10 with SSA-E trigger, Magpul PRS, and Surefire break.

But is there anything I should know? Consider? .308 vs 6.5 CM?

Also do I make a deposit, and pay balance before delivery? Or pay up front?

I'm sure all of these have been asked, but forums are for this kind of thing. Thanks guys.

You'll pay a deposit, then take care of the rest when it's built. If you want to use this beyond 800 yards, just go with a 6.5 or a 6 Creedmoor. Then get a 16.5" 308 upper for shits and giggles! Also, I love having the Noveske switchblock on my uppers. It's a great feature. Enjoy, you won't find a better shooting gas gun.

You pay a deposit. There's a thread in the semi auto forum about wait times and such. Caliber, it's up to you and what you want. There's a 308 in the classifieds right now, and a 260. Both seem to be good deals with NO wait time.

Actually, my .308 GAP-10 with an 18" barrel is adequate out to 1200 on a calm day, 1000 all day every day. If you plan on shooting past 1000 regularly then I might consider 6.5 or 6mm depending on intended use. I personally love pissing off the bolt action guys by out shooting them with a pokey .308 gas gun.

Now, why was this posted in the bolt gun section again?

So three people clicked on here just to say it's in the wrong section. Everyone makes mistakes, and it's not like I can move it to the Semi Auto section without a mods help.

it will rarely be stretched to 1000, but if the opportunity arises I would like to have the capability. Mostly 600 and closer though. leaning towards .308 for ammo availability and familiarization.

I have a 20 inch gap-10 in 308 and run the 178BTHP at 2615fps they plumb Hammer out to 1200 i have put about 2500 rounds through her so far and it is definitely A gun i will never get rid of. I will Probably get a 6 CM Upper for it one of These days.

I would do a 16" .308 if you're not shooting past 600 that often. it will be much more handy and do most of what you need.

If you shoot a lot I would shy away from the 6.5mm since you'll get about half the barrel life of a .308.
