Ordering a new ar15 opinions needed

I am wanting a new AR 15, I will be getting it with two uppers. One will be chambered in 5.56 and the other in 6.8 or 300 blackout but that's another decision I have to make, but I don't want this thread to turn into a 6.8 vs 300 blackout debate. The 5.56 upper will be an 18 inch spr type with a 2.5-10x32 nightforce, it will be mainly used for shooting steel out to 600 yards and used for varmint hunting. The other upper will be my new lightweight close range deer hunting rifle.

I do own a yhm 7.62 phantom suppressor, and will use it on both uppers from time to time. I know its not the best suppressor for this platform but it will work for now until I get the funds for another can thats more suitable for the ar15.

I have been looking at several different ar's and its very overwhelming. My descision will be more based on what spr type upper I like best because it will get used way more out of the two uppers.

Right know I am leaning on pof's piston driven rifle with a 18 inch barrel with a 1 in 8 twist and wilson combat's spr type rifle that has an 18 inch chrome lined barrel with a 1 in 7 twist and a rifle length gas system. I really like wilson's new TRIM rail and pof's new HSR rail.

The best accuracy in an 18 inch barreled semi-auto platform is my main goal.

So what do you guys think?

Also, I have never fired a suppressor on a gas impingement rifle but have fired one on a piston ar. Any thoughts on that debate? Or should I not base my desicion on that?

You're right, you do have a LOT of options.It's going to come down to budget and personal preference, I'd recommend you stay with name brands ( Adco,Wilson,Daniel,Bravo Co,POF,MSTN,etc).That said,if you want BEST accuracy you're going to want a NON chrome lined match barrel.Chrome lining is for high volume ( full auto),long life in shit conditions,and mil-type abuse,NOT for match type accuracy.It's perfect for a SHTF close range carbine not a match accuracy long range weapon.Good luck with your choices!

How much are you looking to spend? Bravo Company has some really nice 18" uppers with stainless barrels. I nearly went with one of thiers for my Mk12 build.

But then I went with Kevin at High Caliber Sales and couldn't be more pleased. Kevin uses the 18" Douglas barrel with a rifle length gas system. It is a hell of an accurate upper.

depends on what you're going to do with it. If not much the carbine won't matter. If alot, the carbine might matter. The more I learn and build the more I'm really turned off by mass-produced guns and especially Ar's. Hook up with an Hider there in Nebraska who builds em and you two can put together a nice rig that'll be fun and it'll shoot fine. Or get an AR exclusive smith to do one for you.

Sounds like you are setting up a nice, versatile rig.

If I wanted top end quality and accuracy, I would get a LaRue 18"SSS, or whatever they are calling them now. The one I had was the most accurate 5.56 I have ever fired.

Close on its heels was a Noveske Recce, it was only 16", very light and was an absolute hammer.

You literally have dozens of good options. LaRue and Noveske are up at the top, but there are a lot of good companies producing excellent weapons.

Buy quality, you wont regret it.
