I just wanted to get a nice clean thread going for pics and feedback from this weekends event.

I landed back in MD at 0645 and was sitting at work for the work day by 0800 ready to go.

I want to be the first to thank Steve and Jen as well as all of their RO staff and special guests for putting on such a great event.

This was my second event there and they truely do put on a great event for us to participate in.

You guys have impressed alot of folks in the shooting industry with how this match has grown and i know NEXT years will be even better then this year. How you can top off what you did this year I have no clue but i know you will.

We all look forward to coming abck again next year to see what new and create challenges you have to throw at us and I know the level of sponsor support for next year will even surpase what was there this year.

I am honored to be able to call you guys my friends and thank you for a great weeekend of shooting and memories!!

Now whoever invited MONSTER to this match i do want to kick your ass. I am 100% hooked on the new REHAB drink. I am not a fan of these products but this one has me hooked. I am online right now trying to order a pallet of it to be dropped off at my house.!!!

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

i'm sitting in front of a huge can of rehab as we speak, lol

I am goin to have to try to make it up there next year. sounds like a great match

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Match was awesome, and it was excellent to meet so many new folks this year, and see many of the same back from last year. It is truly a treat to shoot, and Steve and Jen and their crew are amazing people.

As stated above it is great to know them and consider them friends.

Special thanks to NORCAL and Francis and Vu for saving my ass with a firing pin spring!! Thanks a ton.

HUGE thanks to the Sponsors, Glen Seekins came up strong for the Prize table, and also shot extremely well! Was a tough field, but it is always amazing to me the help and camaraderie between all the guys and gals.

Thanks to all the sponsors, shooters, and Steve and Jen and Crew!!

Will definately be trying to make the cut next year

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

First off, I would like to thank Steve and Jen for their hospitality. It was a pleasure meeting both of them this past weekend. These two are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They busted their ass to accommodate the competitors and ensure everyone had a good time.

A big thanks to the range crew that made this event possible, every match director knows that it’s their range crew that makes or breaks them. These guys were constant professionals and always helped the competitors along so that everyone was on the same page. Thank you RO Brandon for the good laughs, and ball bustin.

I know Team NorCal will be looking forward to coming back again next year. We had a great time with lots of laughs. It was good meeting some new faces, and being able to shoot with my friends from far away.

As always, the sponsors stepped up big! I walked away with a Surefire X400 Laser/light combo with pressure switch. On the 2nd go around I picked up some Crimson Trace laser grips for my 1911. After my pour performance on the pistol stages that cost me in the end, I am going to need all the help I can get.

Will post some more after some Monster Rehab. LOL. That stuff got Jason and I through our 10 hour ride home after the match.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Also want to say a big thankyou for Steve and Jen for putting together another great event. It was great to visit and see shooting friends, Nomad & gang, Glen, Tom, John, Cayln, Alex, Thunder Ranch shooters, LE shooters from here and Canada. New people from Surefire and NorCal - got to sit and shot the shit with a lot of great people. Special treat of sitting around and talking with Chuck & Ed.

( special thank to the men that ran the pistol stage - inside dark, concrete echoey room for 2 days strait )

Will get pics up soon and i will get a buch of thank you's out t the sponsors.

I didn't have my best game on & misplaced my rifle, but still had and amazing time.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

I wanted to say, “Thank You” to Steve, Jen and all the RO’s for hosting such a wonderful event. I also wanted to personally thank Glen from Seekins Precision for the beautiful AR and Derek from Surefire for the awesome cert. (Derek…I bet $5 that your team mate, May, beats most of us next year. She kicked ass for only having experience with a rifle for the last 5 months. You’re a natural May, keep it up.) In addition, I wanted to say thank you to Frank from POF for sponsoring the “Helo” stage. To shoot out of a Helo at a match, or anytime, is truly an experience that will never be forgotten.

Huge thanks to all law enforcement and military (current and former) that were there. It was an honor and pleasure getting to meet some of you and thank you for your service to our country and keeping us safe.

I also wanted to say thanks to Marc Soulie from Spartan Precision Rifles for a custom 308 chamber that had my Bartlein Barreled rifle shooting tight. And thanks for getting drop data for me a few days prior to the event. You’re a great friend and awesome gunsmith. BTW – You kicked ass on day 1 of the pistol stage. Congrats on shooting a perfect score and winning the pistol stage on Saturday.

Congrats to Kevin Drake from Team Blaster for winning the Pistol stage on day 2 after a tie breaker event. It was exciting watching a shoot off on the pistol stage.

The camaraderie and laughs with the NORCAL crew, Team Blaster (Kevin, Tony & Rob), Scott from Vortex, Derek from Surefire will be remembered for a long time.

David, thanks for being a good spotter and no prob about the fp spring. I’m glad between Vu and I, we had all the tools and supplies necessary to do a quick swap.

    Francis

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

This was the first event of its kind that I've ever been to, I didnt participate I was just a spectator but even for me it was fun to watch.
I'm new to the scene so I dont know anybody, but I still had a good time.

The prize table was amazing, the people were cool, and I hope that I will be able to participate next year.

P.S. I thought it was kind of funny how many people I heard asking how to get that job with MONSTER. Rehab- interesting name for a product after they got everyone hooked.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Great match. I am sitting in DFW right now waiting for the connection home. As soon as I can I will get some pics posted and throw up a more detailed AAR.

I will say that this match gets better every year. This is the third year I have shot in it and it wont be the last. The prize table was amazing. I picked up a $1000 gift certificate on my SECOND pass. The level of shooters this year was top notch. As a bonus, my wife shot the match with me. This was unexpected, but needed to be able to even out the field. (one stage had to have an even number of shooters to work right).

Additionally, Team Thunder Ranch showed their class. This was my wife's first match and she had little experience on the rifle. We shared the AI through the match and she tried exceptionally hard. She managed to finish last in the pack, but Clint Smith invited her out to Thunder Ranch for any one of his courses. She also earned the "Shit Happens" award from our friend Chuck Mawhinney.

I will post up more when I get home and get a beer in my hand.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

HUGE thanks to steve and all the ROs to make this thing happen!.... also HUGe thanks to POF for donating the helo and the new rifle i took home! WOW what an awesome match... was my first year there and hope it will not be the last! Great honor to me Chuck and ED! and Alex if your around sorry again about the break i will make sure i have a can on that thing next year!

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Left Portland last night at 2250 and got home at 1300 today. A little wiped out but had to get back on the Hide LOL

A big thanks to Steve, Jen and the rest of the RO crew. Without you all it wouldn't have been possible for us to have so much fun.

Congrats to the Animal. I think a fitting name as he is obviously not human. LOL Actually I think he is a cyborg. Anyone cut him to see if he has a steel shell under his human like skin?
    wink.gif
    Congrats Francis.

Congrats to Kevin and Mark for winning the pistols on the pistol stages.

Was great to hang out with my team mates as well as Dave "The Champ" Weitz, Tom Hines, Glen Seekins, Scott from Vortex, the Nor Cal crew, John McQuay, Jason K, Todd Reynolds and Mr. Boiko as well as Derek and May from Surefire. I know I am forgetting some but please don't take it personal. Just a tired mind.
    wink.gif

A big thanks to all the sponsors. The prize table was great. Got to go through 3 times and there was still stuff left for a free for all at the end LOL

Hope to see you all in 2012.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Rob01, I can't believe you forgot to thank your spotter John for that 20 points!! LOL!!

Good to see you all, fun match and thanks to Steve, Jen and ALL of those RO's that kept us safe and running smoothly.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you fellas know that Jen is checking the scores for the zillionth time right now. Un fortunately we experienced a glitch with Jen's printer going down right as she was getting to score Day 2. She had to manually write down all scores and add them to the scores of "day 1" and then add them all together (while we were starting the awards ceremony needlessly saying she was pressed for time). Unfortunately to say a few mistakes were made on accident and we are truely sorry for this. Again were sorry for any inconvience/hardship we may have caused you guys. Rest assurred that the most critical awards (Top Gun, Top LE Sniper, Top Military shooter, Arial Platform and Pistol stages) were all scored correctly and the correct awards were handed out. As always we had a blast running the event and as always were amazed by your talent. I'm proud to announce that we raised $3,500.00 for Chuck Mawhinney and I can not think of a better honoree for a sniper competition. I know Chuck had fun drinking beers with you guys on Friday night and watching you fellas shoot this weekend. Ed Eaton also had a great time and says that he thinks that he's going to get back into shooting again. Yeah.... We also raised over $350.00 for American Snipers which we are so glad to support. Pat Lucas had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed her helo ride as everyon e could tell by the smile on her face. Thanks again to everyone for participating and to our hundreds of sponsors (+ $73K in prizes) we really appreciate your support. Your the best. Steve.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Steve, we all think the world of you guys too. There is no way that I'd trade places with you, I don't know how you match directors do it. Stuff happens, don't sweat it for another minute, just get the right scores out and move on to planning next year's event. I'm already looking forward to shooting it in 2012.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

    +1 on what Jason said.

Team NorCal will be back if you guys will have us back.

We appreciate all the time, effort, and sacrafices made so that we could enjoy the weekend.

    Vu

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

    where to start...........

the weather was cooperative, and with shooters from all over the US and Canada plus the professional staff of local RO's....this match is gaining gravitas .

Meeting new friends and seeing old ones is always gratifying .

thanks Jen, thanks Steve,, and a special thanks to your father Dan,who reintroduced me to my miss-spent yoot, somewhere there will be a youtube video of Ed, Todd, myself and Dan laying some some serious rubber in Dan's '55 chevy..........the one you were conceived in......what a day!!

everyone was safe, the food was great,(who would have thought Oregon could scam up some decent BBQ....they did)

thanks to all the superb sponsors and in particular Thoroughbred Rifles for the hard use by me of their custom .308,,,,,Shark suppressors of my older re-built .30 magnum can,it all came together, thanks Dale Troutt and thanks David Whitson.

Boltripper had a great time and very little sleep & hope to see all next time

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Home now and the pics are processing. Should have them up a little later tonight (if I don't fall asleep first).

Steve and Jen put on a hell of a match and are about the nicest people you could meet. They work all year to put this thing together.

I can't imagine an honest mistake turning folks away, so don't sweat it.

For you guys that weren't there, the prize table at the match was unbelievable. There were guys that picked up several hundred dollars worth of goodies on the "free for all" AFTER two rounds through the competitors. I got a couple of good pictures of it, but it's really hard to believe until you start totaling this stuff up.

It's never good to shoot a match FOR the prize table, but in this case it was just icing on the cake. The sponsors really stepped up, due mostly to Steve's hard work I imagine. It grew from last year, and if it continues to do so, then next year is going to be absolutely amazing.

Steve is a good friend of mine and I will be the first to admit that there were some things that could have gone better, but none of it took away from the absolute blast my wife and I had spending two days with some of the best shooters in the country. I have given him my CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on some issues and I would suggest all of you who shot it to do the same. He has always been incredibly eager to hear other's ideas. In fact he based one of the courses of fire on an idea that I gave him and it kicked my ass.

I have a feeling Steve is going to have a very long standby list next year as well.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Thanks Steve and Jen for a great weekend with great people.

Francis put on a clinic once again. That's 3 national level match wins since the Bash last year, and he's still fairly new at Tac rifle shooting with only about two years into it. He will be the most dominant shooter of our time in this sport.

That prize table was deep and the thank you letters will be going out this week. Special thanks to Clint and Heidi Smith for donating the two S&W pistols. I was lucky and had a good run with one on Saturday and won the pistol I shot. It comes with a Surefire X400 laser/light combo that is just fantastic. Even though I finished down around 22nd place I still got a 50% off Nightforce cert, a $250 off Manners stocks cert, and a $100 off ammo purchase from Southwest Ammunition. They will all get personal phone calls from me for their donations.

Surefire was a huge contributor to this prize table just as they were at TBRC in Nor Cal last month. Suppressor certs, knives, lights, brakes, and over a thousand dollars in just ear plugs alone. Derek and May were there shooting with us also and they're both a pleasure to be around. Look for May to start making a strong impression very soon she's shooting very well and just took up the sport a matter of months ago. Very impressive.

Something about that match was different. It's hard to explain, but the feel was different and in a very positive way. I don't know if it was because of the pretty natural scenery and green grass or what but it was very relaxing and enjoyable. Hanging out between stages and talking about rifles and shooting with people like Chuck Mawhinney, Ed Eaton, Caylen Wojcik from Magpul, Heidi Smith from Thunder Ranch, and several other good people from the law enforcement community and other walks of life was worth the price of admission all by itself. We took over the Best Western in Sandy and the lady at the desk told me she's never felt safer in her entire life :)

Then just to add icing on the cake, I made a contact that is going to take me hunting for bull elk and possibly mule deer in Oregon this year. I am more excited about that than words can describe!

    Marc

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Great as usual. Next year should be even better. Prize table was CRAZY!

Best part of the weekend as always is meeting other shooters, reconnecting with friends you haven't seen in awhile and putting faces to names from the Hide.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

As the prize table girl(blonde wig and all), I hope to visit a few more of the match sponsors in the coming year and I want to thank Surefire, US Optics, and Crimson Trace for letting me go through your production facilities and put out the pics for everyone to see.

Steve and Jen worked hard on this match and hopefully the minor snafu wont tarnish their rep or the event. I assure everyone involved that they're good people and will work to ensure scoring issues are resolved in the future. I'm proud to call them both friends.

It was good to meet alot of the competitors and I hope you all return to future events Steve and Jen put on.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

    Hi all,
First and foremost I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Steve, Jen, and their crew for running a super smooth and most importantly SAFE match. Also want to give a big thank you to the RSO's of the Douglas range for donating their time so we could have a good time. I am not positive ,but it looked like everyone of them were NRA certified RSO's and they all seemed just as happy as we were to be there and did a very professional job.

It was great to see everyone again and great to meet all the new faces. As always it was great shooting with Team Blaster(Rob,Tony, and Kevin)who have become like family to me. Always a pleasure to see Derek from surefire and great to meet May(who by the way shot great, both derek and may)It is always great to see all the Nor cal guys(Vu,Francis,Mark,Jason,Matt,etc..)Although if it weren't for Francis being such a good guy and willing to help anyone with anything, I really wish you guys would quit bringing him and give someone else a chance to win
    smile.gif
. You know I love ya Francis!!! It was great to finally get to shoot with Glen Seekins.

As has been said the prize table was unbelievable, so a big THANK YOU to all of the sponsors(it is a very long list). I would like to thank Terry Cross for donating the KMW Sentinel stock I was able to pick up, Benchmark barrels for a new barrel, PWS for a new muzzle brake, Triad tactical for some awesome AI mag pouches(that are my favorite pouches by the way), Magpul for AR-10 magazines and to all the other sponsors that make these events AWESOME!!!

One more thing that I have to mention. Not only did we have a great time this weekend, we were in the presence of two guys that I truly did not feel worthy enough to be in their company- Chuck Mawhinney and Ed Eaton, both of which are true American hero's and I was just in aw to be in their presence. I could not believe they hung out with us all weekend, it was just fantastic.

I am sure I am forgetting something , but it was just a fantastic weekend. Vortex and myself were more than happy to be a part of it. So thank you so much to everyone involved.

    Best Regards
    Scott

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

One other thing, It was great the way the prizes were set out for the whole match. Thank you Mr.45auto for manning the prize table doing all you did to show off ours and all of the sponsors product. Great exposure!11

    Thank you very much

    Scott

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Well ran with some great friends to hang out with for the weekend. Not much more that a guy could ask for!! Thanks to all the RO's and staff that made this possible.

Already ordered replacement firing pins. Next year not only will i have spare parts, but a spare gun too!

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Just a quick thanks since everyone has said it all so well above. What a great match! Steve and Jen, you did an awesome job and I know all of us can't wait to come back and do it again! To the range officers and crew and club members, thank you for your hard work, and to the competitors, you are truly fine examples and I'm proud to have spent this last weekend in your company.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

    Steve and Jen:

You guys put on a GREAT match. Well planned and well executed. Don't sweat the scoring, it's happened at other matches I've been to, and at one in particular it was much worse. I think I can say, for all of us, fuggedaboutit!!
There were some outstanding shooters there, in every sense of the word. It was a pleasure to shoot with all of you, and an honor to meet Chuck and Ed, and get to talk to them off & on throughout the match.
I'm wading through the sponsor list sending emails, and encourage all you guys to do the same. Sponsorship for this match was incredible and we need to thank them.
Now: Steve, what to I have to do to come back next year?

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

It was a great shoot. Steve did an awesome job setting it all up. I have a ton of photos, I'll post them ASAP. It was a lot of fun, I hope to compete in it next year. We'll see. I was impressed with all the shooters and how much the sponors donated for the event.

Thanks buddy. It couldn't happen without all of you guys bustin your asses over the weekend. I'm proud to have you on the crew. Thanks to you, your wife and your brother for all of your hard work.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

First competition as well as first time posting. On behalf of the King County guys, thanks for the tons of hard work you all put into the event. The experience really opened my eyes to some different disciplines and perspectives....as well as some equipment limitations/options. This community is full of some class act people (Clint & Heidi from Thunder Ranch, Steve and Jen, OSP guys...and tons more). We look forward to next year!

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

A little late to the party, but I would just like to extend my thanks to Steve, Jen and the entire range crew out there for putting on such an incredibly fun event. Both this and last year have undeniably been the highlights of my year.

For someone on such a tight budget it's a rare opportunity to compete at this level since I can't always very well manage the tickets or advance fees of some of the other matches at this level.

I hope Jen doesn't have any remaining qualms about anything that happened she's a wonderful lady and an absolute pleasure to be around I'm hoping that noone would hold anything like this against her, and considering the caliber of people at the event I'm seriously doubting anyone would.

As always, it's a pleasure to meet all the other shooters and catchup. Great group of characters all around. I can only hope that I have the chance to compete in this again next year.

I have definitely learned more about my own shooting inefficiencies from shooting this event in particular than any other, and I continue to grow as a result of it. I will try to get into this even every year it's available, and hopefully every year I'll be a bit more competitive.

Congratulations to the shooters that took home the big prizes you've definitely earned it considering how stiff the competition was.

A huge thank you to all the event sponsors. Individual letters will be in the email once I have time(I've worked almost 30 hours since the event ended Sunday I basically went back to work right after dinner, slept briefly and have been here since haven't even uncased my rifle hahaha).

I know that personally when it comes down to choosing which options I want in the future, and what I recommend to friends the people that display their support of the shooting community will most certainly be the people I steer business towards. Seekins precision, Surefire, XLR chassis, Specialized Dynamics, Short Action Customs, Vortex, and many many more were in full showing and it really never ceases to amaze me.

Of course, the reality is is that none of this would be possible without a guy like Steve bringing it all together. I hope sometime in the near future I can express my gratitude personally over beers and dinner to both yourself and your wife
    wink.gif

You guys are the best kind of people, unquestionably for whatever my opinion is worth.

Regarding all the law enforcement officers and prior military that make a showing to this event, I would like to say that you are all shining examples of what is possible through the combination of exceptional character and the tenacity to do the jobs that put you into the most personally compromising of positions for the benefit of the rest of society.

I admire and look up to all of you, and it's always a personally rewarding experience to shoot along side you.

Until next year, or possibly shot show, or perhaps even some other smaller competitions then.
    wink.gif

It seems obvious that any female with a camera is pretty likely to take a lot of pictures of me you're right I should get in touch with all the females that were there and see how many pictures of me show up.

Largely the pictures of me are all that I'm interested in, and maybe a few of May. She was a cutie.

Not discounting the boltripper Sean Connery look alike photo I was planning on blowing up to postersize and hanging above my reloading bench.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Thanks Steve, Jennifer, and OSC crew for a very fun weekend. (helo ride was awesome) I attended only as a sponsor/observer but had a great time and met some very nice folks. Thanks for having us and I look forward to getting to know you all more in the future. This event had some top notch shooters and people in attendance. It was a pleasure to meet you all.

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

I forgot to mention who won the biggest awards:

    Top Gun - Francis Kuehl
    Arial Platform - Alan Harper
Top LE Sniper - Alex Paul
Top Military Shooter - Peter Shell
Secondary Weapon (pistol Day 1) - Marc Soulie
Secondary Weapon (pistol Day 2) - Kevin Drake

Way to go guys!!!!! Please give our sponsors a huge thank you and support them like they support us by buying their fine products. Their generoisty always amazes me and without them there would be no OSC (+$73K in prizes). Our sponsors are the best!!!!! Also I would like to thank this years honoree Chuck Mawhinney and VIP's Ed Eaton and Pat Lucas. It was a pleasure/honor just to be in your presence. To check out our list of sponsors click on the link below. Thanks once again to all our shooters. It was a pleasure directing this event. Steve.

It's like looking in a mirror......

I appreciate you keeping all those pins above the waist, you're a good friend! lol

This is what happens when you spend all weekend long trading jabs with good friends. After listening to the Premier Preachers make fun of my kick ass SWFA shirt and my SS on my AIAX all weekend I felt it was necessary to hide some SWFA swag in Vu's truck. Little did I know he was going to make a mini-me out of it for me!! LOL

Good times, well played you two, well played. Though you did have 10+ hours to think about it on your drive home

    Re: OREGON Sniper AAR thread

Even though I wasn't there, I want to say thank you to Cold Bore Competitions for putting together the M40 Rifle Raffle, Sniper's Hide and especially to Chuck Mawhinney, a true American hero. I won a rifle of a life time. Congratulations to all the shooters that took home prizes and thanks to all for not pressing Chuck too hard to pull another name!

Now.... what to build with my new barrell. 7WSM, throated for 180 Bergers? 6.5 Creedmore? Hmmmm...... I've got a spare 700SA laying around, currently a .223 boltface but that's easy to change. Current go-to is a 700 with a Rock barrel, shoots great.
Then I'll need another NF scope. This free barrell is getting expensive!

I feel the same about the .308 PMAG in the goodie bag. Can't have a magazine laying around with no rifle to use it in....
