Old blind guy must be thinking of my dad that retired physicist with 30 years at a major oil company who used to work exploration in the deep water Gulf of Mexico

Here is a perfect example of exactly what I'm talking about. Katerra lumber filed for bankruptcy after entertaining some of the highest lumber prices in history. They still managed to go broke.
Why? Because they were managed by idiots who didn't know what the fuck they were doing. Their facilities were capable of outputting 13 million board feet of timber per year, during one of the most demanding periods of high prices for their product in modern recorded history. Along with some of the the highest prices per board foot ever.
They were investigated by the Securities & Exchange Commission for fraud. Not to mention they had over 26 OSHA inspections and complaints. In short they were idiots, who ran a massive lumber operation straight into the ground, during one of the most profitable times in the history of the business.
There are oil companies who do much the same. They get fat, lazy, and stupid during times of high oil prices. Then prices drop and they can't turn a buck. It's not because the cost of making their product is too high. It's because they're run by incapable idiots who can't compete in a competitive marketplace. Ala K-Mart, Sears, and J.C. Penny's.
Many of these oil companies are no different. And they'll go broke in the exact same way.

Is that supposed to hurt my feelings? In this case the apple fell nowhere near the tree.
No. I couldn't care less about your, "feelings". I was simply stating a fact.Is that supposed to hurt my feelings?
Hydrogen takes more energy to make than it produces. We've had fuel cells since the Gemini program in the 60's. We are no closer to making them cost effective now, than we were then. O'Reilly is a hell of a lot more relative than Hydrogen fuel cells are, or ever will be. They're a pipe dream on a massive scale. And they always will be. We need solutions today... Not a century from now.I always tell liberals who hated Trump (wasn't my favorite guy either) that under his administration, oil companies SUFFERED.
And now they are making money hand over fist compared to then. And at the same time they're spending 2-3x more at the gas station to feed the SUV they felt they must have for "the space" and "the safety" (when in reality they didn't want to be seen in a minivan or small car). Somehow, mothers and families in Europe are able to raise children driving 2-door hatchbacks but here in America, well that's just not possible. I know I grew up in the Midwest with a father who drove a Ford Escort and later other similar vehicles and somehow we still got to soccer and baseball practice.
The way you transition an economy off of hydrocarbons isn't to do everything you possibly can to make gasoline and other forms of oil/gas expensive for the end consumer, thinking they'll just go out and buy electric cars and cover their roof with solar panels and install heat pumps and all those different "eco friendly options". Economics is not that simple. First of all, so few can actually afford that and many that can are, for example, smart enough to know that their electric car will be worthless when the battery is depleted and they'll probably be charged some astronomical environmental fee to "recycle the car". Or they lease it, which is extraordinarily wasteful ecologically and stiffs the next dumbass that buys the used electric car with the aforementioned problem. Same goes for solar panels... those aren't something you just... throw away.
The way you move an economy off of hydrocarbons is to incentivized the domestic manufacture and sale of non-oil-burning units. And invest in an infrastructure that can sustain it. Tesla had to do it themselves (putting up fast charging stations). That's great, but the infrastructure to deliver power to enough charging stations to actually replace ICE vehicles (even 1/4 of them) isn't in place or planned for. We are on this "electric" kick, which is 50-100 years from being remotely sustainable without great sacrifice and physics and other science has not demonstrated any hope for consumer battery technology that doesn't require rare earth metals. IMO, investment needs to be made in hydrogen powered vehicles (e.g., Honda Clarity) that can be "filled up" at a pump (so it doesn't take any more than 20 minutes to "recharge") and we need to more rapidly figure out fusion power generation (it'll be expensive to get there, but it's an investment that absolutely has to be made here in the United States and Europe).
Bill O'Reilly is out of the picture for me. Has been for years. Ignore him.

Awe, now that really hurts. I was basing my entire self image off your opinions of me... I am crushed.No. I couldn't care less about your, "feelings". I was simply stating a fact.
That's bullshit. Who's "rebelling"? The best selling models are the larger powerful pickups, big SUV's, and high performance models. And have been for a long time. People don't seem to care about mileage and fuel economy. What is the solution today? Because people REBEL if the government insists upon 50 mpg cars so... what is it?

They want performance. Big displacement V-8's and high performance turbos. I have to hunt to see an econobox these days in my area.
It's all the "Greenies", along with the tree and bunny huggers that are doing all the complaining. This whole "Green New Deal" is supported by idiots who don't have a single clue of what they're even talking about.
Get rid of these assholes, along with the stupid politicians who are listening to them, and our problem is self correcting.
I'll give you AOC as my prime example. Now we have a bartender with an IQ of room temperature, who is dictating our clean air policies? Spare me.
The immediate "solution" we need NOW, is for that fucking idiot Biden to get off his ass, and open up this nation to massive energy exploration and production, by REMOVING as many restrictions and regulations as possible.....
Something that nit wit, along with the other nit wits who are controlling him, will never do. In fact they're the idiotic fools who crippled our oil and gas industry in the first place. Remember Hillary?...... "We're going to put a LOT of coal companies out of business!".... Yeah, real smart.
Biden, along with the idiots who voted for him, are to blame for all of this, far more than Putin. Putin is simply taking advantage of an energy weak Europe, who is in this same situation as we are, all because of their fucked up "green" energy policies.
They, and we, did this to ourselves. Now we're all going to pay a horrible price for it. O'Reilly is simply pointing all of this out. And it sure as hell is about time someone did.
This country needs to get it's head out of it's ass, with all of these pipe dream "energy solutions" that either won't work, or else will take decades to implement.
These environmentalist fucks over here think they have really scored one for mother earth every time they get a US plant or factory shut down are to fucking stupid to realize that all they did was export whatever pollutions they thought they were stopping here probably got 10x worse than had it been made here. The "widget" is getting made no matter what, but they are to dumb to understand that.
BS >>>"We were energy independent for a split second "
because in human years it was around 4..
please note, the article was written in Dec 2018.. and we remained independent for YEARS
energy independent under trump
Edit - Here are the months under Trump for those who suffer TDS when the USA was NOT energy independent
"Since 2019 the overall trend has been more energy production than consumption -- but there have been several months when the U.S. did not produce as much energy as it consumed, including December 2019, January, February and December 2020, and January 2021." energy independence
The real problem is most doesn’t understand the data presented in the links.Could that low production be a response to a surplus?
That would create a need for less production.
What's the real answer?
OPEC who is in control of most of the world oil supply is responsible for the current raise in price. Not the USA!!!!
You know, "they" probably would have had more success in swinging more people over to their way of thinking if they hadn't have propped up such an obnoxious, insufferable little twat for a "spokesperson".....View attachment 7816630
When a retard and a bartender determines your energy policy?? You are fucked!!
Many of the people commenting here are definitely not intellectuals when it comes to the oil industry myself included but I know enough about it to recognize who does.
I am not saying it is purely one thing. It a multitude of factors.Meh.
Are you certain its purely the cost of oil is rising or does the value of the dollar is falling have a part to play?
Some of it is inflation.
The immediate "solution" we need NOW, is for that fucking idiot Biden to get off his ass, and open up this nation to massive energy exploration and production, by REMOVING as many restrictions and regulations as possible.....
Any and ALL of them that inhibit profitable exploration and production within our own borders. ALL pipelines should be brought back immediately. They NEVER should have been shut down in the first place.OK. Fuck it. You have inspired me. I think it was the bold font.
Which regulations and restrictions exactly are you talking about?
