Origin not really throwing brass

I was doing some dry fire with dummy rounds I’ve run before and everything was going fine till the brass just started rolling out instead of getting thrown. I throw some empty brass in it to see if the extra weight was the issue and that brass almost gets thrown forward instead of to the side. The action have maybe 750 cycles through it at this point and everything seems to be in proper working order but I can’t quite figure out what’s gone wrong. Only thing I did recently was strip the bolt head down and cleaned it up so it was fresh for the last few matches

How hard/fast are you running the bolt?

I’m running it just pretty hard, I switch bolt heads with my tl3 to see if that made a difference and it did. It was throwing brass like it used to, now it figure out what happened

Isn't that controlled by the ejector and the speed of which you run the bolt? Curious to learn what's going on.

Tired that, still having the issue. Is it possible the spring that applies pressure to the cone shaped pin somehow got weak

Did you bend the extractor on a headspace gauge? You have to slip the gauge under the extractor, if you close the bolt on the gauge it can bend it.

The origin's ejector pivots on a pin at the rear of the bolt stroke as it engages the case head. It sounds like the malfunctioning bolthead has an obstruction in the channel that is not allowing the ejector to pivot enough?

It’s got full swing on the ejector, I’ll just run it till the end of the season and everything works till them. After that it’s getting send to bighorn for them to time a different trigger and maybe I’ll have them look it over.

Then it might be extractor tension or something. Perhaps try changing extractor assemblies between the functional and non-functional boltheads and see if that changes things.

Its looking that way, with the tl3 head it works like a champ and that’s all factory fresh components.

I've heard those extractor springs poop out after awhile and need replaced.

Would make sense, I had a cartridge get stuck in the chamber and I think it might of taken a little abuse on top of the spring losing a bit of strength.

New extractor parts kit, he said there isn’t any know issues and it’s probably just a worn part that failed unexpectedly
