Original Game Changer Bag - Available Again

Now the real question is do I keep using the rifles only bungee sling or switch over to a bag like this instead for barricades etc? The sling works pretty well once you square your shoulders and the bungee tightens but I've never used this bag to compare. Thoughts?

I called them about 4 weeks ago and asked if they were coming back out with the older version and they said: NOT IN THE NEAR FUTURE. So I ordered the new one. I cant believe it. Now I am stuck with the new version.

These bags look useful for me around my farm - fence posts, wire, logs, etc. Can someone give me the basic pros and cons of the new one vs the old one? I see the new one has straps on it, which is useful to have.

thanks

The weight is what makes the OG better in my opinion is the weight, it just works better. while the straps are nice, they are not essential.

Like HKPirate said, the weight of the original, more specifically the fill level, makes it better. I'm not sure if they changed the fill media or just used less, but the original Game Changer was heavier and was more stable. The newer bag seems more "squishy".

I have a similar situation. I asked 2 weeks ago if they were taking pre-orders on the OG Gamechangers and they said no so I got a new one. I'll be giving that one to my buddy next time I go hunt with him. My OG Gamechanger arrives on Monday.

So they didn't know that they were going back to the original design or they misled you, and you went back and bought another?

No I knew they were going back to the old design. I just didn't think that it would happen before a Thanksgiving hunt I have planned and needed one of the Gamechangers for. So I bought a new one as a stop-gap and then they release the OG a couple weeks later. Now I will give the newer design to my friend, which I was planning on doing anyway, and keep the OG design like I planned. They never misled me, just said they weren't taking pre-orders at the time.

I got the "new" GC from the Meat-Wagon at K&M in May. I like it a lot but never used the straps. Too complicated and I didn't want anything tugging on my objective, etc.

I have never used the "Original" GC, so I grabbed one off the prize table this past weekend at PNTC. Haven't used it yet, but it is noticably wider, lacks the straps/buckles and may be a tad heavier? It wasn't obvious to me whether it is or not, just by handling it.

I'm eager to try it out soon. Thanks Tom & Melissa and Armageddon Gear!

Let me see if I understand this. I had a discussion with several PRS shooters about the GC bag over a year ago. All to a person told me not to buy the original because it was "too heavy" and that the new one was just coming out and it was "much better". Now, you are all complaining about being stuck with the "new" GC because they've started making the original one (that was "too heavy") again and everyone wants it instead. WTF?!!!!!
Really, I kid. I shot USPSA thru several generations of "THE BEST SHIT EVER" and PRS is evidently no different a crowd.

The "new" game changer bag was better in theory. It is lighter and has straps. But what almost everyone who has used both will tell you is the original design works better. Bigger and heavier yes, but more stable in most situations.

Differences, there are a number:
Size - the original was physically larger than the new one
Fill - the original had more, and was heavier
Straps - the original did NOT have any, the newer one does
Weight - due to the size and fill, the original was heavier

For me, I own and run both depending on the scenario. If it is shooting from a single position, or it involves very little movement, I will use the original. If it involves a lot of positions, with a lot of movement, I will use the new one strapped onto the rifle.

For anyone,
Straps - can be incorporated into the old one, just wrapp them around the inside of the "V", I was doing it before the new one came out.
Fill - per above, the bags can be opened to adjust the fill. Also per above, I took out about 50% of the heavy plastic bead fill and replaced it with light weight foam beads. Both of my bags have plenty of fill for stability, but they also weigh about half of what the original did.

IMHO, you can't go wrong with either one. That being said, if I was only going to run 1, it would be the original. Primary reasoning behind that is the size/depth of the "V" is much bigger on the original and it allows you to get a lower / more stable position when placed over an obstacle.

Best of Luck!
