I've got an older Savage 10 .308, in a B&C standard HB stock. Flat rear receiver, pre accutrigger, top right side bolt release. This thing just plain shoots! The only chassis style rifle I have is an RPR 6.5 which of course has an adjustable stock. I find myself needing/wanting a cheekpiece on the B&C but instead of adding one on and still having JUST an old style stock (which isn't that bad), I'm considering going with a chassis since I like the RPR. Considering the Oryx chassis. Nope, not going to go with any other. People seem to like the Oryx and at the price point, that's the one I'd pick. Not going to spend twice as much to see if I like a chassis on this rifle. So, my question is, I don't know a lot (anything!) about changing one over. Of course this is a blind(?) magazine. So do I just remove the bbl'd action from the B&C, bolt it into the Oryx, buy an AICS 308 mag from MDT, and I'm good to go? Will I have to convert, fit anything? Anything else?? Thanks. Greg

I think you nailed it.Pretty easy swap.I am waiting for the oryx to come out for my savage L/A 300 win mag.Ihave several MDT chassis and have not had any issues. There is a gentleman who comes on here who represents MDT I think his name is JOSH very informative. You can PM here and he can answer all your ? I see it does not come with a mag it does have some spacers for LOP but you can add more.Good luck with your chassis .Do a test with your rifle as it shoots now in its original configuration and then another after you change to your Oryx you will smile at its consistency. Its a fine upgrade for the price.

No idea since I've never tried the Oryx. But an RPR stock won't fit a savage so I'd go with something else one way or the other. But that's all beside the point now. Ordered one last week, came today. Quick change over, other than trying to get the blind box off the action. Magazine goes up too far, catches the bolt and won't let it go forward. So when you insert the mag you have to make sure to pull it back down to the catch. No big deal. Seems to feel good, raised the cheekpiece and added 2 shims in the buttstock, think I'm ready to go try it out. Just wish I could have gotten it in a different color (without having to order extra panels!), don't care for ODG, but oh well.

No pictures?? I wouldn't mind upping the game of my wifes savage...
This Is my wife's Stevens 200 (Savage 10) .223
It was torturous trying to find a new stock then we would the MDT Oryx. It gave it a full make over and she loves it. She didn't like the OD Green so i wrapped the panels.

What kind of LOP does your wife need? My wife is like 5'3" so the shorter the better. Hers is in a Boyd's stock right now.

She says she would like wood better, that being said... a wood hydro dip would lookawesome!! Kinda WA2000 looks with the modern lines.

Hey @jackomasonmy my wife is about 5'11" and she needs a LOP spacer kit it's about 1.5" short for her. It might be perfect size straight out of the box although there is 1x 1/4" spacer already installed which can be removed.
Just put it together it looks amazing

Nice looking wrap Chief! That's probably the only negative I have of the Oryx, I DON'T like OD green. It's not terrible, just don't like it. If they make different colored panels (which you have to purchase), looks like they'd offer them up originally. Anyway, I'm 5'6" and I ordered the spacer kit. Added 2 spacers besides the one it came with, which gives me an LOP of about 14 1/4".

Just ordered one for a pre accutrigger 7mm-08 Savage SA. Allalso bought the spacer kit and a mag. Now need to figure out how to remove the box for the blind mag? Fiddled with it the other day, maybe need to look it up.

Need to order a pic rail from Murphy Precision, and rebarrel into 20" 308. Powder coat the action, and put on the bigger savage bolt handle. Then get a 4-16x44 Midas Tac.
Have a new hunting rifle, Sandman Ti will make it a little long perhaps, but nothing unmanageable. Maybe an 18" barrel?
Looking forward to this. Not expecting MPA with a Curtis action smooth, but should be fun none the less, especially if I'm just shooting steel.

I wasn't sure either how to remove the box so I had to google it. I hate to admit that I'm not sure but I think I went from the rear of the box. Muzzle on the floor. Set a flat blade screwdriver against the back of the box and smack it with your hand or a hammer. Popped right off!
