I’m looking to purchase a suppressor, and would like some first hand advice.

It will be primarily used on the following

LMT MWS 7.62/6.5 Creedmoor and
Various 5.56 platforms from 10.3-18”
I would also like to use it on my bolt guns until I purchase a dedicated suppressor for them, with those ranging from 6.5-300 PRC.

I would like something that requires minimal amount of tinkering with buffers/springs or swapping gas t

I have several OSS suppressors except for the HX QD 7.62. Mine are for the 5.56 and the .338. You cannot go wrong with their products, especially on a gas gun. If would rate them 6 out of 5 stars.

The Hyperion K will need an adapter to use on 1/2x28.

The Helios qd ti exists and comes with 1/2x28, 5/8x24 dt mounts and can take any 1.375x24 mount.

The oss will have least gas in the face/ need for tuning but the Hyperion k is pretty low on blowback/back pressure as well. The oss would require probably no tuning. The Hyperion K might need the next weight up in buffer.

Helios qd ti has a bit more back pressure and will more than likely need a heavier buffer but it will be noticeably quieter than the oss and Hyperion k on the bolt guns. In terms of suppression on the bolt guns Helios qd ti>Hyperion k>oss 762.

That all depends on your current gas lengths, port size, buffer set up, current blow back unsuppressed, ejection, etc.

Another 2 lower back pressure options on large frame AR's would be the Sandman S and RC2 762. Both are heavy. Sandman S with a muzzle device is 22.5 oz. The RC2 is another ounce heavier and is longer.

Unfortunately I haven't tried a 762 oss on a 556 so I don't know how big of a deal the over bore is. Some 762 bore suppressors don't perform as well as other on 556.

So depending on what you want in terms of weight, length, muzzle attachment I'd go with the helios qd ti, oss 762 ti or Hyperion k.

OSS is the longest 7.45" without mount and heaviest of the 3 at 19ish oz with muzzle device.

Hyperion K is the shortest (on 5/8x24 muzzles) at 6.4 and lightest 10.5. Not sure how much the adapter weighs but it adds some length and probably 2-3 oz for use on 1/2x28.

Helios QD Ti is 6.5" and 11.5oz with direct thread and solid end cap.

So it will really be up to you. Length, weight, gas tuning, muzzle attachment method, suppression.

I have the current gen OSS and the previous gen, both being the basic 7.62 version. It is on the weighty side, and as far as suppressor performance, they seem very rifle dependant. The new gen seems to be much quite on the gas guns, specifically my 16" 6.5cm upper I built with a faxon big gunner barrel. It's not as quiet on the 308 upper. The old gen is quiter on my tikka. But I usually run the new OSS on everything because it's easier to swap around.

I currently have a Hyperion K that should have stamp coming back in the next 8 weeks...hopefully. I am dedicating it to the tikka 6.5cm.

If I were to change anything, I don't think I would. I still would buy the OSS first for suppressing the semi autos, because it's just easier. As close to plug and play as you can get, no tuning or messing with gas settings, springs, buffer weights, etc. The OSS still sounds good on the bolt gun, and I haven't had any ill effects on accuracy, and find that I tend to shoot better with it attached. Then buy the dedicated lighter purpose built bolt gun can later. Or just save yourself some time and buy both now, because really...that's the only right answer, because you need both, NEED!

Have the OSS QD762Ti version which is 14.7oz. The new version which now features a flash hider cap, is 15oz. I use it on a variety of gas guns from 7.62 to 300 blackout to 5.56. Zero change in function off or on other than the POI shift which is repeatable.

Super easy to mount and unmount. I just bought their rather expensive wrench despite the fact I've never needed anything to remove the can other than hand power. You never have to torque this thing on because it's reverse threaded from the mount and the gas vents keep it tight enough. So you just spin it on til you feel resistance and you're good to go. I do use anti-seize just in case but it'll melt off in long firing strings.

The 7.62 I use is a 16" barrel, 5.56 is 16" and the 300 blackout is 10.5". I believe they're now including the muzzle device of your choice with purchase of the can. I do not make any adjustments to the gun with the can on or off even though all of them have adjustable gas blocks.

We all know 5.56/2.23 is notoriously hard to suppress but my last time out to the range, brought my wife and niece, who'd never shot an AR-style rifle before. With the can, it was a very pleasant experience for them. Completely opposite of what they were expecting. Another suppressed shooter at the range actually asked me what can it was and commented on how good it sounded. I didn't mention it was a 7.62 and not a 5.56. So it definitely works on the 5.56 but I also have no doubt the 5.56-specific can would be a few db's quieter.

Super easy to clean too. I basically went to Home Depot, bought some PVC piping, two caps, one threaded, and some pipe sealant. I drop in the suppressor and pour in the M Pro7 gun cleaning fluid and let it sit. I do rotate it over the course of two to three days (depending on use) but don't really agitate it. Then shoot it and blow it out. I'm sure you could drop one of these in an ultrasound cleaner and it'd be done in no time.

The OSS can I ran was great for gas management but not so great for sound reduction. I just bought a couple Nomad 30’s that have impressed me. I think I would look around a bit before jumping on OSS, there are other ways to manage gas.

Have the qd 30 cal oss, it is a very nice can especially for gas guns. Runs noticeably cleaner than others I have but don’t have the Hyperion. Mine has very minimal zero shift and is consistent. It is however heavier than some other options.

I have the oss 762 TI and love it.

I was totally fed up trying to tune large frames for a silencer until I tried it. The gun runs identical with and without the can with zero tuning.

I never want to run anything else on a gas run and wish I could swap my rugged, YHM, and DeadAir cans for flow through designs.
