OT - Screw Kelly Blue Book

If you've been to kbb.com lately you know that they have totally screwed the site up. What used to take about two minutes to get a used car price now takes 10 minutes.

I'm a big fan of truecar.com for new car research.
Now the same folks have released a new site for used vehicles.
It's still being tweaked, but it's already way easier than kbb.
Clearbook

+1!!

Between the @#$%&*+ ads and the generally piss poor results I have had with kbb, I gave up a while ago on the site.

KBB and Truecar?
I didn't know that.

Clearbook uses recent sales data based on location. I'd say that's a fairly accurate market picture too.

Re: OT - Screw Kelly Blue Book

KBB was recently bought by, I wanna say ClearChannel, but I could be wrong on who it was. They basically own Manhiem, KBB, V-Auto (used by most dealerships to price cars), and a few other sights.

The same ClearChannel that fills half the FM band with crap?
No wonder KBB went to shit!

Re: OT - Screw Kelly Blue Book

KBB has always been painfully slow (On NMCI anyway)

Bad part is, our state uses KBB to determine how much tax you must pay w hen you title a vehicle...doesn't matter what you pay for it, it's what KBB says..

Artic Light--I think that sucks too.
I bought a basket case motorcycle for $75 and spent $28 on the parts to fix it plus my time to put it all together.
When I went to get plates for it so I could ride it I took in the old title, bill of sale, and receipts for parts I bought and told them I had put it together over a period of 1 1-2 years.
The State of Colorado put a value of $2285 on it and that is what I had to pay the taxes for.
I bitched and the people in the office know me and know I build things like that, all to no avail.
Taxes on a bike I had $103 in were still based on $2285.
I still feel ripped off.
