It looks like Otis is pretty much a universally respected gun cleaning kit manufacturer. I'm thinking the Deluxe rifle/piston cleaning system FG211 for $58.47 is what I need, I was going to buy on ebay, but the price is the same buying direct from Otis. Any reason not to get the Deluxe R/P kit, or is there a better kit?

Regards,

Rick

Re: Otis Deluxe Rifle/Pistol cleaning kit

I've used several of their kits in the last few years. I was issued a few for my sandbox vacation and I absolutely love them. Regardless which model kit you go with they come in a handy case that protects all your cleaning pieces. Plus the small compact size makes it easy to throw in a day pack. So getting an Otis kit will do you good for the money.
As far as that model, it all depends. They have several kits designed specifically for platforms. If you don't have need for a wide variety of brushes you might consider one of their other kits. As far as finding which kit serves you best is on you to decide. I will tell you that for the money they're awesome kits. Also keep an eye out in the FS section. They've been in there quite a few different times.

I have the kit and it is great. Only thing I would add would be a some extra generic cotton patches that mimic the Otis large and small patches. Just poke through them. No need to buy Otis brand patches they're overpriced. Te kit is great and very complete. I use it on everything from a 17 cal air rifle up to 12 ga. No issues. I like everything in one spot all together.

I like the Elite kit. It has absolutely everything and the small kit as well. I have 5.56, 7.62, 9mm, .40 and 12 ga. The large bag can stay at home and I'll throw the small one in my gear bag...
