Did any of us ever give him pudding in a cup? We'd have data, but since he uses gun boards as a form of adult day care instead of shuffling down to the colorful short bus and taking the ride we may never know for sure.

Interesting developement, Paparock's last post was yesterday on LRH. But when you try to pull up posts using the "by member" function he doesn't show up. I wonder if Paparock got himself banned from LRH?

I once launched a nuke under the covers...sent the girlfriend running and screaming around the house. In the end I received a Court Martial for an UN-authorized launch of a WMD. I was pardoned after Christmas $$$$. :) So I feel papas pain.

So he went from being Special Forces to being a lieutenant manning a radar for an anti-aircraft missile system?

Yeah man, I pointed this out earlier this year! You made him famous Veer! He's a no shit internet legend, easily on par with the great Gecko45 now and that's NOT easy to do but I have to call it. People have been trying for two decades but it requires a special person with dogged perseverance to achieve such a coveted title and he has to be well known on all the major firearms forums in the US.

I'd like to see a reality TV show with him in it. Pick a premise, you can't go wrong, but I think he'd shine as an alphabet soup secret operations instructor. Or at least that's what he'd think. Or a "Top Mall Ninja" competition. We'd need to get in touch with Budley too, don't forget him.

Man, I have spent way too much time on this thread but such entertainment is so hard to find. Now I have to go back and look for the other legendary melt downs that I missed. Thanks Strykervet......:( I'm going to do some searching but if someone has a link to bring me (and a few others I'm sure) up to speed on those posts I would love it.

You guys better be careful, Papa is a big, badass dude:

"Growing up I was a fighter, bare knuckles to be exact. By the time I was 15, I was fighting guys 21 years old. I was big for my age at the time 6 foot 2 inches and 190 lbs. My father became concerned because I almost beat a man to death with my fists and I temporarily paralyzed another. My father having been a First Sgt. in WWII made me stop fighting in return he started teaching me Jujitsu as he said at the time to teach me to control the Irish side of my temper. Everyone said I wasn't going to get any bigger but on my first day in the 10th grade I was 6 feet 5 inches and 200 lbs."

and he's seen "Death's Door:"

"From what I saw on my side of things I was escorted up to this giant door by two giant beings. I remember looking at this gigantic door and thinking man something must have really gone wrong because that is "Death's door" and if I go through it I am not coming back. I wasn't scared about it but just surprised to be there. We stood there before that door for what seemed like a long time when the beings with me said I had to go back and I would not be going through the door."

That is some seriously unbelievable pile of bull droppings there.

Did they even still have those systems deployed in the 1970s off continent?
I thought those were 1950s and 1960s limited thing only in the actual USA.

Somehow I doubt that the local urine testing MP was at the controls of the AA missile defense battery.

Veer,
The pic didn't show much, but having Atari in the title pretty much said it all...

Man, I tried reading through some of the glock talk thread but my head started hurting and I realized I'd rather be outside doing the pressure washing.

Your phone won't support Flash. It it did, you'd still be playing Missile Command.

I was always the kid riding the bike, playing some form of ball game, camping, fishing or running around with a BB gun in my hands.
My buddy got the Pong game and had me come over. Ten minutes of that and I was done.

I did like Frogger though...

I do remember watching people playing Missle Command, but I was just not into it.
Downtime was reading or playing spades, or talking guns.

I looked it up because I didn't think we ever had nuclear anti-aircraft missiles (say what you want about Wikipedia, it isn't all bullshit): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Nike

Turns out the Nike Hercules was nuclear-capable and was stationed in Okinawa and several other places. It was an anti-aircraft system but this variant was intended for ballistic missile defense.

His story of refusing to launch a nuke at an unidentified bogey because 2 US fighters were in the area still reeks of bullshit though. No way the military would be so eager to launch a nuke over an unidentified aircraft, especially close to Okinawa, and surely there were conventional anti-air systems available (such as the 2 F-4s he didn't want to nuke, allegedly).

This is a good example of what I mentioned earlier about how good liars sprinkle truth throughout their lies in order to maintain the possibility of the lies being true as well.

Speaking of little bits of truth here and there. Could the below have originated from a gay experience he had while watching dudes piss in cups???

" when the radar officer (me) and the missile officer had our keys off our necks in the the sealed boxes and turned with HOT Nike Hercules missiles on
the launchers "

Think we might have an explanation:

Man I love that you youngsters are catching such giants! When I was younger it was a dream of mine to come to California and achieve such a goal. Now that I live in California my body simply will not allow me to even attempt the feat but that does not stop me from ENJOYING what others are doing! My body is just too damaged from too many years of abuse including my inner ear that makes stable ground seem to rock and roll sometimes. I can't even close my eyes without holding on to something as I will "spin out" and fall down. My multi-day offshore trips are over sadly. The most I can muster now is near shore but I still remember the fun of offshore fishing. Have FUN everyone while you can as tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

I’m sure John Kerry and Richard Blumenthal were there too, and it’s seared into their memories. Space Shuttle door gunner suddenly seems legit next to saving the world from Armageddon single handedly. I wonder who gave the order to fire? My guess is General Buck Turgidson.

Wtf happened to Maggot?

He got tired of .000000000000000001JerkOff constantly orally draining the puss from his UTI.

Seriously though, When I came here some 11 years ago this was a quality forum. There were some really interesting people who could carry on a discussion beyond simple sentences. I learned a lot, on a multitude of subjects, both shooting and non shooting, related, from some of those guys. Even from Veery Ji, who made me improve my writing.

There were fights and insult, yes, but always resolved amicably. The move to Scout opened the door to a bunch of trash. They came and pretty soon much all the old hands drifted away because of the new attitude of filth and stupidity. Still a few good people here but I just don't see the level of discussion I need to keep interested. Too many like BetaTreeBush that think they can win a discussion by being the more stupid and ridiculous, rather than addressing issues and answering questions with cogent answers. It became monotonous and boring with, just two or three of the most insecure ones needing to dominate, gang up on, and attack anything they don't like. I'd been thinking for a couple years about what a lot of time I was wasting, and thinking that, like many other old timers, it was time to move along. That time arrived. I still visit some of the other shooting related forums as Im to get back to LR, and to keep in touch with friends like Sirh, Greg Langelius, and MCameron, and a handful of others, but just dont have the time or energy to engage in the stupidity. I have more productive and profitable places to use my energy. I still keep up with Switchblade, JRose and a few others on a different site.

Thanks for asking. Ill see ya in a month or two.

Have a joyous celebration of the birth of the Nazarene carpenter.

Maggot out.

fact is that we had nuke tipped Nike missiles, they were designed to take out formations of planes or tanks, people were pissed when they didn't arm the patriot with a small nuke, and didnt give it a ground to ground capability The patriot is a good missile but it can only take out one plane at a time, the troops think this is a waste, at least when I was at Bliss when the change over happened. For all you pilot people out there, I cant tell you how many times you are targeted and would be killed if you came against the US AD systems, Navy or Army.

That's the truth. The night that Hasan Akbar fratricided our Brigade TOC, my sniper partner and I watched a Patriot launch and intercept something which created this huge fireball in the night sky. We were all giddy because we thought it had just intercepted a SCUD that we kept having multiple alarms over. I felt like a real piece of shit the next day when I found out that I was excited over the deaths of a British aircrew in a Tornado that the Patriot had auto-launched on since the jet didn't have its IFF transponder active.

That was a crazy night.

I was just thinking of a new angle we could continue getting our regular dose of comedy from our favorite troll.\
Instead of calling Paparock out on all the bullshit stories, just think of all the laughs we could have if we actuality encouraged him alittle? Hell, I bet with a little time, we can have him saying " and while I was in charge, I trained this new recruit C.Norris how to...."

Waaiiiiitttt a minute here. Is this guy fricken Reacher? Or is he just copying from Lee Child's books?
