Yea, I got an idea, what scope are you using, as some scopes cannot abide a 20 moa base.

Oh, and define bottom travel, in your words please. Because my scopes have elevation up and down, and windage right and left, but nary any bottom travel.

Thanks

Re: Out of lower travel

So your out of down adjustment, and cannot zero @ 100 yds.

OK, next question; Warren 20 MOA base & Rings or Warne 20 MOA base and rings.

The Weaver does not make (as far as I can tell) a 3.5x10x40.

They do make a 3-10x40 which is listed as having 48.2" of adjustment. They also make a 3.5-10x50 which is listed as having 41.89".

Please clarify which scope you actually have. But I suspect your's is the one with only 41.89" of travel, so you need a flatter base (10 or 15 MOA) or a different scope.

20 MOA is 20.94" if you actually have less than 42" (which is 21" of up and 21" of down travel) then thats your problem.

Re: Out of lower travel

Already told you, use no more than a 15 MOA base or buy a new scope, or use a 200 yd or longer zero. It is very hard to use a 20 MOA on a scope with less than 50" of adjustment. Many times just sighting in will use up 5 MOA to 7 MOA of your adjustment.

There is nothing wrong with your equipment, you have just chosen a mix of equipment that is incompatible. If your going to use a 20 MOA base, you need a minimum of 50 to 55" of adjustment range in a scope. Your Weaver has insufficient adjustment on your rifle, with a 20 MOA base.

Thanks for you help
By doing this will I have enough travel to go
To 400 yds?</div></div>
Do you have a clue what you're doing or why you bought the equipment you've bought? /sigh...

Ok I'll try to be helpful. What round are you shooting?

Re: Out of lower travel

I believe he stated it's a 308. A 308 at 400 yards does not need a 20MOA base, put a 10MOA or 0MOA base on it and you will solve your problem. According to my calculations, your 20MOA base with your particular scope should get you out to around 800-900 yards.

Re: Out of lower travel

Thanks for the info members. Currently starting out close till
I get more trigger time. Have the ability to shoot out to 600.
I'm going to re-zero for two hundred and start there. Slowly
Progress as my ability improves.
My current load is southwest ammo 175 SMK
Again thanks
