Seven years ago I broke my right collar bone ( of course it's my shooting shoulder). Due to the brake in the bone, I developed a calcium deposit at the point of the break. When I shoulder the rifle, I put the butt of the rifle nearly right on top of the calcium deposit. It's not large, but noticeable. After shooting my first 30 rounds out of my recently purchased Remington 700 AAC-SD in .308, that point in my collar bone was getting very sore. Now, this is my first .308 and I haven't spent much more than 3 shots at a time behind anything larger than a .270. So until this last weekend, I had never experienced this. I understand .308 is very manageable recoil and I can agree to that. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this before and what steps have you taken to counter the little (BIG) problem. Even if you don't have the same problem, maybe you have some good idea's for me. I think about the only option is a different recoil pad like a Limbsaver but I'm not sure if that would make much difference.
