PALS and MOLLE webbing

Re: PALS and MOLLE webbing

MOLLE is the acronym given by Natick. There was a rumor going around a while ago that Natick was sending cease and desist letters to gear makers that were using their patented "strap and snap" attachment system. A few of the larger companies just changed the thickness of the HDPE stiffener in the strap to circumvent the patent. Most smaller companies utilize MALICE clips or Speed Clips.

PALS and MOLLE both have rows 1" apart, and columns sewn at 1 1/2" intervals.

Pouch Attachment Ladder System

is used throughout the

MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment systems.

PALS is how pouches are attached to MOLLE system equipment.

I much prefer the MALICE to the button strap, or the even worse straps with tucking tab systems (or whatever they are called). MALICE may take a little effort to put on, but once on, they are secure (I have had plenty of buttons come unsnapped). MALICE also works with older ALICE gear, and can be used, securely with an every day belt.

Re: PALS and MOLLE webbing

Fair enough on the MALICE clips. I might say that it also depends on what kind of kit/pouches we are dealing with as to what kind of system I prefer.

I just way prefer those blackhawk speed clips. So easy to switch things around, I've yet to break one, can't rot, etc etc
