Been thinking about a new PCC. Our clubs monthly Personal Defense match allows us to use a pistol or a PCC or sometime they throw in a PCC stage.

I have narrowed it down to a Foxtrot Mike FM9B or a Ruger PCC. I like the idea of an AR based platform but the Ruger seems to be rock solid as well and uses the 10-22 trigger.

Opinions please.

These are the specific ones I am considering. I have also considered sourcing parts and building my own, but with the current shortages, that is easier said than done.

The Ruger PC Carbine is a nice entry level unit that performs well, comes apart to pack down small and uses familiar magazines.
The price is one of it's biggest advantages, along with the classic rifle styling for those not wanting something "tactical looking"

That being said, if you have the money, the SIG MPX is a much more refined platform that offers a lot of options, especially if you want an actual rifle length one as the stock completely folds letting you use it as a shouldered rifle or a very long barreled pistol.

The factory 10/22 trigger is trash. The BX upgrade is better, but not for the price. The Kidd 2 stage is awesome, at least in a 10/22. I wouldn’t buy a PCC solely based on it using the 10/22 trigger.

I just picked up a FM upper and lower as a 9mm pistol. Haven’t put any rounds through it, so I can’t comment beyond initial impressions- which are positive.

I guess I should have also mentioned that part of the reason for narrowing down the field to the two mentioned above is the availability, right now. Also the use of Glock Mags is a plus. I normally shoot an XDM for the aforementioned match, but I have a Glock 34 that wouldn't be a hard transition and I have 15 mags for it.

I own the Ruger PC9 dressed in a Magpul PC backpacker stock with the Glock mag adapter.

The PC9 is a heavy rifle but that’s because it is a blowback design. I haven’t had any issues with the rifle but that is just my sample size of one.

I don’t think you can go wrong with the PC9/PC40 first. I believe these Rugers hold their value okay; The worst case scenario is you selling it for a slight loss if you want to go a different direction.

I would still role with the Stern - uber flexible, reliable, and a lot more options. I like my Rugers but the Glock mag adapter is a major problem and is a huge ding. I wouldn't trust my life with it.

Definitely cool and a nice gun. But, I assume somehow these guys were able to make it fully automatic? It’s not like they are using a bump stock or anything. Basically, I assume if you were to get one of these it’s a normal AR. Must be nice to be able to have a license to have a full auto machine.

From what I understand most semi's can be made into auto. What was amazing was most autos are mush after 2-3 mag dumps - the barrel overheats. This kept on going!!! Different calibers and barrel lengths are available.

Where did you find the Magpul PC backpacker stock? I've never seen them in stock.
