PCP moderator ?

Anyone have any experience with one of these (DonnyFL SUMO – 1.6″ x 6.25″) on a Marauder?
Did it make an already pretty quiet .22 pcp rifle noticeably quieter, or would it be a waste of money ?

I have Donny FL and Impulse Air. I prefer the Impulse Air over any Donny FL.

The make them a lot quieter.

I can't help with those models but can offer this advise. If you feel the rifle is louder than you prefer then add a moderator to bring that sound level down. I have .177's that are what I would call backyard friendly and don't need/require a moderator. My Gauntlet 2 in .22 cal. is configured with built in moderator which keeps it backyard friendly. However, my Gauntlet 30 did not come with a moderator and was not backyard friendly. I added a DonnyFL Shogun which turned it from what sounded like a .22 LR going off, as it came from the factory, to a backyard friendly air rifle. You just need to decide how much money you're willing to spend to make your rifle more quiet or live with it the way it is.

Donnys are good, but honestly I think they are about as over rated as the FX line of rifles Anything that will add volume will work, much like a fire arm suppressor works on a fire arm. Did have an adapter at one time that I was able to use my Sparrow on my airguns, and it worked great.

Huggett is another brand to look at, but I have the Impusle Air 1200 and 1350 and really like them both.

I would say the 22 mrod is backyard friendly, hell I would say it is basement friendly. I guess if you live on top of the house next to you it might be an issue. I freely admit I don't have that worry. I can shoot a canon in my back yard if I wish......actually thought about a civil war mortar, or bowling ball mortar.

I don't recommend the DonnyFL Fatboy 2.0. Suckered in by the caliber specific end caps and sale price. It sucks. Tones down volume but can't run an end cap without turning anything it is on into a shotgun. Will miss by feet within 20 yards.

Having been down to Donnys shop and talked to him about the FatBoy he has commented that the main idea for the FatBoy was for looks. For a while it was even listed in the description of the product. It looks decent but there are many better options out there for sure.

I'm considering the Silent Thunder Falx. It seems to check the most boxes for me.
I attempted to calculate the "flow factor" of my unregulated .22 Marauder @ 975 fps ~ 2500psi, but not sure if it's correct.
Plan on calling ST in a couple days to see if they can help.

In my opinion:The noise problem in airguns up to .357 cal is almost completely caused by mechanical actions: valves and hammer/springs. A suppressor on these calibers only has a minimal effect. Larger calibers are the riffles where a suppressor will reduce noise enough to make you not think you have waisted dollars in a suppressor. I'm sure there are other good ones but I haven't tried them, so I can only speak on the DonnyFL Emporer, which works sufficiently on my .457's and up calibers with long barrels to erase the sound that identify it as a riffle: to it could be a nail gun or someone banging on a metal can a hundred yards away. Until someone comes up with a way to open those valves other than metal on metal hammer, only wrapping the riffle with Styrofoam will help.

I put one on a benjamin cayden and it made it significantly quieter. It's now backyard friendly, it wasn't before the moderator.

^Yes, mine sounds like a 22lr without any suppression. With shroud and can, akin to a stack of 4-5 vintage Hustler magazines dropping from waist height onto a wooden floor.

Lmfao, I couldn't find any old Hustler mags to verify the sound but used three mostly intact Playboys and a couple Easyriders and think I matched it!

I have a 22 Marauder and put a DonnyFL Tanto on it. It is significantly quieter.

I have 2 marauder 25 cal. PCP's neither of witch have moderators, I did install some better co es or baffles whitch helped some also drilled four small holes at the breech end of the tube with some 3m scowering pad wrapped around the barrel at that point seems to help, also have a Benjamin bulldog that's modified to shoot at over 225fbs with a donnyFL Ronin and extension and the sound of the slug hitting the target at 35yds is louder than the report of the airgun it does make the gun longer by about 10 inches but for my type of hunting/ shooting its not a problem ,
