So last October I was called into work on a Saturday. Once there I was told of one of the Mechanics in my platoon was arrested on Child Endangerment charges. They turned out to be rape and a few other charges also.

This mechanic had been raping his own daughter (not step daughter, his own flesh and blood) for 4 years, apparently since she was 8 years old. She had finally had enough courage to tell her teacher at school.

we had to hold many "watches" during the next 8 months during extended 3 & 4 day weekends, spending more time away from our families in the process. He was confined to post. He was also told he either had to be in our PT uniform or the Multi-cam uniform. He kept going to JAG and IG complaining that he was basically in prison with these stipulations. They agreed and told my command we can't do that. The first weekend he had free, he disappeared and was arrested for trying to flee the state.

12 JUN 19 was his trial and sentencing for this horrific crime. I wasn't able to be present during the court martial trial, however my friend told me the outcome. He has to always register as a sex offender wherever he goes and he received 38 years in prison. He is currently 28 so that will at a minimum put him at 66 upon his release. He has to serve the whole sentence and isn't allowed out early for good behavior.

Seriously though, what the hell. The whole time I knew and wasn't able to say anything to anyone. It was hard. I have kids that age. I wanted to put him in a room with a gun and a bullet and told my highers that, they weren't too pleased, but understood. What the hell though. How do you rape your own daughter for 4 years straight. By the way I was based at Fort Carson, CO.

I worked these case for a few years as a detective. Part of the problem is they get away with it for years. Either by threats toward the victims or because the victim is too embarrassed to come forward. Typically, and speaking from most cases, if there is one victim, there are generally more.

The worst case I worked, a former CASA volunteer was abusing multiple girls that were adopted. He had cameras set up to see if anyone was coming into his basement... If he got a full sentence for all the charges, it would have been over 400 years in jail. He pled it out for one felony chagre for each child. He'll be in his 70's before he's eligible to be released. The judge said it was one of the worst cases he's seen. We never did recover the photos he took of the girls. It goes to show you never know what goes on with some people.

The best thing we can do is support the victims because they're messed up for a long time afterwards. I'm glad the victim was able to come forward. Smoke and prayers to the little girl (she'll need it)

Thats for sure, many never fully recover. In some cases its worse than murder because the victim is condemned to a LIFETIME of horror. There isnt punishment sufficient for this crap.

I had a ton of family on the St. Louis police force growing up. One of them a juvenile officer in a really bad part of town. I overheard him telling my dad about a guy they caught who had been doing a bunch horrific things to his kid and a neighbor kid as well. About a week after bonding out he was found under a downtown bridge with multiple stab wounds. They ruled it a suicide. Fell off the bridge with a knife in his hand and bounced 8 times.

I asked this same question many years ago when something similar past through my life. A very wise man gave me the best answer. He said "you can't understand it because your not sick, if you could it would mean you were sick too!" he went on to explain that sometimes people get sick and need to be put down, much like a rabid dog. I learned a lot from that man and tend to agree with him on almost everything...……...including on how to handle a sicko. 38 years is punishment, putting him down the solution.

While I was stationed in Germany we got a call for child abuse from a local hospital. The daughter was being interviewed at the hospital as we were arresting the father for the assault. We brought the father into the station and sat him down on a bench. The investigator, who had been interviewing the daughter, walked into the lobby and asked if he was the guy. Desk sergeant said it was and the investigator proceeded to beat the father almost to death before anyone could intervene. It turned out to be a similar situation, a father had been raping his daughter. It finally came to light when he physically beat her up pretty bad. The daughter grew up being raped from a very, very early age. She could not remember a time when she wasn't being raped and I believe she was around 10 years old at the time of her father's arrest.

When I worked in civilian LE we had a 50 something year old guy rape a 15 year old. Not statutory but brutally raped her. While in jail he would call family members who would three way to the child so he could threaten her if she testified. He would send letters to her detailing what he was going to do to her when he got out, sick stuff. He also had charges related to the threats. In the end the guy got time served, which was 15 months, for everything. It was one of the days I felt ashamed to be in LE. BTW, I no longer work in LE.

And as much as most of you will disagree I think they should spend the rest of their life in prison instead of being put to death. Death is the easy way out and is often painless while their victims will have to live with the pain for the rest of their lives. These sick individuals living their entire life in fear of being beaten, raped of killed is a far better punishment than a quick painless death. I also believe that cruel and unusual punishment should be an option for exceptionally heinous crimes. Let the victims, or their families, punish them however they see fit to get some sort of justice because we no longer have a "justice" system but a legal system that favors the criminals. And a lot of the leniency of the current justice system has to do with the District Attorneys offering ridiculously lenient plea deals in order to pad their conviction percentage. During election time they brag about how they are tough on crime because of their high conviction rate but in reality it is just the opposite.

Punishment should be just that for animals that do this. No outside contact except to attorneys during trial. No television or recreation. No commissary. No conjugal visits to create more drains on society. No beds, no pillows or blankets and you get to sit their naked on a cold concrete floor. And the food should be nutritionally adequate without regard to how it tastes or looks. If you cannot behave inside you do not go to solitary, you get a tazed every day until you decide you can follow the rules.

I worked in a Maximum Security Hospital as a guard in the Sexual Offender Treatment Program( SOTP). On my last day I had a census of 257 people. Each had a average of 7 violent predatory convictions, and all were deemed unfit for release.

It all starts out the same, Child porn, abuse, and quickly escalates.
These people where by far the most dangerous, manipulative, cunning criminals Ive seen. We had Teachers, engineers, accountants, 1 Lawyer( he was one of the worst), people from all different walks of life.

To have to sit in court while the prosecuting attorney goes on about his criminal history was one of the most difficult things we had to do. I herd cases with victims ranging from 4 to 77 years old, and know that being violently raped is not the worst thing that can happen to someone. There are many worst things.

The other side of my facility held 186 forensic patients. All were murders, ( average was 2)violent assault, ect. Never could let them mix. They would have killed every sexual predator they saw.
We had no problem dealing with the Forensic patients, but the SOTP people, scared the shit out of us.
I have walked through the valley of death, and fear no evil only because Ive already looked into the eyes of the Devil.

We had a local case that was pretty heinous. A young man from New York name Roger Broadway was in Knoxville selling magazine prescriptions. His victim was 67. I was working when they brought him in and he was covered with her blood. He attacked her by pushing her to the floor where he stabbed her through her neck. It was so forceful the knife stuck into the floor. I spoke with investigators and they said the old lady was still alive and was still pinned to the floor by the knife as Roger Broadway raped her. She bleed out and died afterwards.

As much as I don't like it, I do agree with this. There is no 'curing' the offender. There is no 'undoing' the offenders deeds. There is no 'good outcome' in ANY way at the end of whatever sentence can be gavel-whacked.

There is also NO ACCESS for any of the general public to even get close to the offender. So, all there is, is the offenders existence. To what point? To what end? For what purpose?

Simply to keep guards employed, dieticians to continue cooking, and contractors/maintenance people to build and maintain the infrastructure to house/hold them?

All of that is a drain on taxpayers, THE PEOPLE to which the offender had wronged. It is for the betterment of EVERYONE that said offenders simply cease to breathe. As I had stated in a thread I'd started 'some years ago' regarding "close and personal" experience with this type of thing (in one format or another) when your Best Man at your wedding (who happens to be an LEO) asks you a favor and can his son stay with you for a while because his house right now is full with 2 children of his own, 5 grand-children and a daughter-in-law.... by all means you'd "help a bro out," right?

Expecting that we adjust our schedule to the benefit and convenience of him, at a moments notice. Not keeping up his end of the bargain with regards to 'chores' and whatnot that were his job whilst staying here 'rent free'. So his father found him a different place to live as well as he (the father) apologized for the actions of his son.

About 4 months later, when the father was on vacation in Florida with his wife, they got a phone-call from his co-workers. It seems that his son was just swept up in a sting initiated by Australian LEO's for child-porn/child molestation.

The daughter, who was drop dead gorgeous, just hated his guts. Most dismissed it as teenage rebellion. Turns out he was raping her on a continuous basis.
