Pelican vs pelican storm: VOTE

I like the storms latches, and when I press on my pelican I hear air coming out the sides, that can't be right?

I would say the Pelican for most people. The Storm would be better but you have to ask yourself is it worth it. I see so many people by expensive cases and they do not use them for what they are intended for.... hell, they won't even take em out in the rain... If your just taking your gun to the range to shoot and travel lightly with, Pelican. If your a heavy user (you would know it if you were) then the Storm...

Just my opinion.

Mine does the same thing, thats the way it works. Airtight.

I prefer the Strom cases for travel and ease of opening the case. I have busted more than a few knuckles on the old style Pelican latches. I also believe that the Storm cases are lighter in weight but just as durable.

It's called an air equalization valve, like I said, it's supposed to do that,especially when you're going from one elevation to another, mine does it when I open it up in the cooler basement.

The pelican is cheaper than the storm; I was able to get a great deal through amazon so that's why I got it instead of the storm. They are both rugged enough.

The air isn't coming from the valve, it's coming from underneath the O-ring. They said I might have worped it

I've never even seen a Storm case so I didn't vote. I do have both a Pelican case and a break down shotgun case marketed by Allen but I believe built by Pelican. What is there about the Storm case which would cause one to believe that it would give better service under "heavy" use?

I've only used Pelican 1750s for travel, but fly to matches regularly with them. Based on the scuff marks they have gotten on the outside, and one rather frightening and irritating incident where I actually saw the loading dufus throw my $8K rifle/case onto the loading ramp, I'd say they have done the job pretty well. Never an issue of any kind.

I trust my expensive rifle and scope in a 150$ Pelican all day long. Can't go wrong with either though

Storm... I always transport my rifle in it to the range. I don't abuse the case on purpose but on the other hand I don't pamper it. Still works fine.

I have a Pelican case for rough trips, but when I go out shooting in the desert I prefer Canvas case backpack that doubles as a shooting mat and purchased for my DTA SRS A1 when it arrives. I know it won't protect the rifle and scope as well as a canvas, but much more versatile and user friendly out in the wild. My rifle and scopes should be rugged enough to handle it. Holds extra barrels and mags to. Thebtruly heavy part is the Ammon, if you plan to shoot a bunch. I'll post some pictures when I get all the components together.

Have both and Storm wins by a mile. Much better case IMHO. Pelican seems like cheaper plastic and I too like the latches on a Storm better.

To be honest I had never heard of the Pelican Storm (didn't realize it was different) but that is what I got when I ordered my DTA SRS case from EuroOptic. I am AMAZED at the quality of this case. Hands down the nicest case and foam I have ever owned.

Bought my first rifle case when they were Hardigg Storm. Someone told me the latches were better than the Pelicans (they are). Then I guess Pelican bought them out, but continued the line? Have since bought two more Pelican Storm cases. I have an assortment of 3100s and one 3300 ... wonderful cases. Sturdier feel than Pelicans. They've held up well to many flights. I've never paid much more than a comparably sized Pelican. If you watch Midway they have sales a couple times per year ... the 3300 was $160 last Christmas.

I bought extra foam from efoamstore.com and have been happy with that too. You can specify the dimensions of the foam to within 1/4" and their higher density 'packing' foam is very similar to the OEM foam in the cases.

Atmospheric pressure is the same inside your case as out side when you force down on the case your creating extra pressure thus causing air to force out. This is better then hearing it suck air in.

Love my Storm. It certainly feels more substantial than a Pelican, but I'm sure the Pelican is still more than adequate protection.
