I know Lapua is THE gold standard but has anybody had any luck with Peterson? I'm about to purchase 250 to 300 pieces of brass for a new barrel and came across Peterson. It seems to have limited but good reviews. What do y'all think? The only other brass I think I would consider is Alpha or Lapua. Should I stick with what I know or try something new. I'm going with LRP brass because I already have a ton of primers. I also don't want to have to neck turn.

I've been down the brass rabbit hole for my 6.5 and 6 Creed's the last year. I've got a bunch of the Lapua, Alpha, and Peterson. After countless tests I have 1 rifle that seems to love the lapua, 1 that loves the Alpha, 1 that Loves the Peterson. I've tried the LRP and SRP Peterson, I did get slightly better numbers with the srp peterson "by maybe 1 sd better" I can't see how any of the 3 would hold you back so I would probably just go with whatever I could get the best deal on. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to strongly recommend Peterson.
Peterson is the cheapest by far. I have read that consistency was lacking in some of it though. Of course that may be in only on instance. Good to here from someone that has actually used it.

My experience is that Peterson is longer-lasting than Hornady, but not as consistent as Lapua. I’ve had pockets where I couldn’t seat primers in new Peterson brass. I do like that they come with a box (if you buy in 50s—don’t know about larger quantities). Until I ran in to the primer problem, I was full-on Peterson. Now, I consider them a good value, but now the best brass (which in my experience is Lapua).

I bought 300 pcs for my 6 Creed. I FL sized their 6.5 SRP brass and have 3 firings on it. I anneal every firing but so far, so good.

I did have to neck turn them after sizing down because I have a .2735 neck in the chamber and the brass was a tight fit. If running them in a 6.5, I'm sure they would be fine.

I just ordered 400 pcs of srp 6 creed brass, order got screwed up and received 2 different lots. That is getting ironed out, last week an emergency came up and was going to put it to use, so I chamfered 50 to test. Then I weighed some of it, when I got to 3.1gr diff in case weight, I quit and gave that box away. When the rest of the order gets here, the whole works is going back.

After reading this I went ahead and ordered 300 pieces of SRP 260 Alpha Barss. Thanks for the input.

I am not very pleased with the Peterson fat-neck 6.5 CM brass. Bought there brass in 308 and loved it, buy the 6.5 CM fat necks and its been nothing but problems. Brass seems too soft. Now after 3 loadings most of my primer pockets are garbage. Contacted Peterson brass customer service and they were helpful in trying to figure things out but after going through my load data and velocities they just recommended I try their small rifle primer brass instead and that the fat neck brass were actually a mistake that they decided to market.
I won't be buying anymore on the fear that I will get more bad soft brass that are unusable after 3 firings and be out what I spent a lot of time and effort on let alone money spent.

Since my post in May, I’ve retired my Peterson 6.5 brass. Too many loose pockets after too few firings.

I just purchased 750 Peterson SRP 6.5 cases. I did a trial run of 100 and felt the quality was on par with Lapua. I'm on my 4th firing of pretty warm loads and the majority of my primer pockets feel snug. The customer service is fantastic. I purchased lapua and was short several pieces which really pissed me off. The rep who is present here is essentially worthless. Of my peterson brass there were 3 out of 750 I wasn't 100% satisfied with and I brought it to their attention. They genuinely seemed concerned and are sending replacements. In this instance the necks were crimped in a triangle shape. I will most likely not go back to Lapua. I load 47.3g R 26 under 140g ELDMs seated 0.020" OTL and get 2860 FPS with a SD of 7. I used to load 47.7g of R26 and could push 140s at 2910 FPS but I did notice loose primer pockets and ejector marks. This was obviously my fault.

I’m on my 8th load of Peterson 6.5 SRP, 41.2gr H4350, Berger 140s - a warm load.
I’ve culled ZERO cases out of 300 for loose primer pockets.
(Although my Bartlein barrel is just about toast at 2400 rounds)

This is 10 shots from 100 yards from a savage.... gasp, using Peterson brass. That circle is 3/4” for reference.

I bought a 100 of the 260 SRP and resized to 6.5 SLR and it is very good, I was using winny brass but the quality has started to suck I had to cull 10 after the second firing for loose primers with 43.5 gr of H4350. I am going to buy 500 for the next barrel and see how they last, Lapua is out for me simply because I dont wnat to have to turn necks.
