Re: Phantom Steelworks-War Thorns

Here's something that I asked CMK to make me a few months back. I was very impressed with the work and the continuing correspondence regarding my custom request.

Now that I've had some time to do a little work with the knife I figured I would post a few of the pictures. Overall, I'm very pleased with the blade and the work. Thank you, Chris!

Knife Goal:

I needed a heavy duty hunting knife, something that I could belt loop, run in any weather, and use for the heavy skinning work, knocking the odd sap sucker off the tree from the climbing stand, and still have the overall toughness of a heavier blade.

I spec'd the blade as SS420, I wrestled with the idea of using CMP154 (15-4 SS) but the additional cost for the blank wasn't worth the increase in material properties to me. I went so far as to dig in the proprietary material databases at work and look through the test results before making my decision.

The idea of the blade is for something tough, including the exposed spine/pommel with the paracord loop.

Thank you again, Chris. I'll be in touch when another grind is itching at me.

Now if I can only figure out why these pictures aren't showing up anymore... If someone else can see them and I can't, please let me know.
