I haven't talked with Phil in a few year. He was very kind to me. He invited me into his home, introduced me to his wife, and we had dinner together. He will be missed. God speed Doc!

He seemed like a pretty laid back, easy going guy. I only met him one time over by Boise when I dropped off a Can that I was have an issuer with. All I did was call gemtech #. and he picked up the phone and said ..." just come by the house and drop it off ". So I just drove over and we chatted for a few. A few weeks latter the Can was fixed and sitting in my PO Box.

Wow he was really the guy who truly got the entire concept of mainstream silencer technology going. While Gemtech fell behind in market sales they made good solid silencers. I still have my Tundra 9mm and it performs well and is a solid silencer for it's time. I met him at Shot show years ago he was just a regular guy with a lot of knowledge we all enjoy because Gemtech was truly a game changer before all the others started the technology we see today........ RIP Dr. Dater
