Well Photobucket can go F**K themselves if they think I'm gonna pay there $400 ransom/blackmail price for 3rd party hosting.

Anyone have a easy solution for transferring images off there website to another? Also any suggestions for another photo hosting website?

I left PB years ago for SmugMug. When I did it, there was a feature on SmugMug that would let you move all content from PB. Get the idea of "free" photo hosting out of your mind. Nothing worth a shit is free.

Look for a host where you retain ownership of your content.

You have a one time chance to download your images to your computer. I took it.

Some me people are moving to Imgur with their pictures. I haven't decided yet.

Can you do it in one shot? I see how to download a folder at a time but I have several folders and thousands of pictures over the last 12 years. I tried one folder but I am unable to open it once it finished.

I only had a couple hundred or so and a fast computer, so I guess I got lucky. I haven't yet deleted my account in the hope that my various posts in forums for the past 12 years can still be viewed. A probably vain thought and also likely in vain.

Imgur .. and Don't look back . They pretty user friendly with there navigation on site. and this time I will back all my wanted pics up on disk in case Imgur folds up .

Photobucket built modeled there business advertising free uploading and storage with 3rd party sharing . No warning the dick wads keep all your pictures with extortion demand of 400-$ . and for people with multiple Albums. They give you one chance that is a crap shoot at best to download retrieve your Pics. Thank you Not and good luck in the new path taken .

Imgur is trash IMO. Pretty much the home for viral or meme photos. The only reason I used it is because it was to hotlink some images on reddit that I didn't want coming off of own website.

If you actually care about your images, light up a virtual private server on Linode or Digital Ocean and host your images there or use Flickr which has better control of licensing. If you're willing to pay, Smugmug and Zenfolio are at the top of the list for photography in general and they're excellent in terms of protecting photographer rights. I still maintain a Zenfolio account on top of my own VPS hosted site (Linode).

But if you're just sharing on forums, I guess Imgur is fine.
