Anyway, picked up this Annie from a local guy for $600. Serial puts it around '58 or '59 for the action, stock is early to mid '70s. Got a Harris bipod and sling on the way, hoping to join in on the rimfire competition fun! I need to replace the old 4-16 Tasco that came on there though...It isn't a bad scope, but it hasn't been treated very well and the lenses are at a level of griminess that no cleaning seems to help. Everything else is in beautiful condition, not even a ding in the wood.

If anyone has scope suggestions, I'm open to ideas. I'm thinking about one of the Vortexes that seem to be getting rave reviews recently, but I've been partial to Clearidge in the past on my rimfire rifles and their new XP5 line is tempting.

Re: Picked up a sexy new rifle!

I can't swing the 2.5-10 PST because there's no AO and I'll be shooting from 25yds out to 200. There's always that 2.5-12.5 XP5 though!

I'm not really sure how I feel about magnification. I love being able to shoot at low mag, but the 16x really comes in handy when I'm trying to spot groundhogs at distance.

Beautiful, I bet it will shoot with the best of them. I'd look at the Vortex hard. I've got a Viper PST on the 308, thinking about a Diamondback for the CZ Varmint 17HMR I ordered today.

I told the guy what he had before he sold it to me. He was aware of its worth and actually had another Annie, just wanted to offload this one quickly and didn't have the ability to sell online.

Re: Picked up a sexy new rifle!

im guess this is a 22. the BSA scopes are cheap but hear me out min has great clarity very accurate and with the turret adjusted it is dead on every time. if this is a 22 you would want a BSA sweet 22. or if this is a 17 a BSA sweet 17. highly recommend them.

I'm leaning heavily towards Clearidge or Vortex.

It sucks that I can't really afford glass to appropriately compliment the rifle, but I'll get there someday. She's been kicking for almost 60 years, and hopefully there's another 60 to come. That's plenty of time to save up...right?!

ETA- Is there any real downside to getting the barrel and action refinished?

Me personally, I'd leave it just as is...

I'm not going to shoot rabbits in the head at 75y with aperture sights. I understand that its totally possible, but not really up my alley.

I have Leupold EFR 6-20 on both my 54MS LH and 1813L. I love these rifles. The actions are smooth as glass, the 5018 trigger is second to none and they are tac drivers. You had a great buy. Rimfire Central always has great info on 22's.
