I will be getting a nice amount of cash soon.So I will be spending it on a nice scope. So I will not be shooting the $300.00 dollar piece of SHIT anymore. But I have never got to handle handle or look through any of the higher end scopes .So it's like trying to make a decision blindly.I have ben reading what is wrote about them here on the HIDE.
I have found 2 scopes I think I will be making a choice from.I am looking for the opinion of shooters who have used both of these scopes. Also $2500.00 is my limit of $$$$.
1st scope $2,350.00 is a S&B PMII 3-12x50mm P3 Mildot Reticle SFP 1/4MOA turrents.Tube has light ring marks.
The 2nd scope I have chosen is $2,290.00 Nightforce NXS F1 3.5x15x50mm HS ZS side focus 1/10 mil turrents FFP MLR reticle.Comes with Ultralite Picatinny style rings.
Let me know what you think.

Re: PICKING OUT A NEW SCOPE

The $300 Super Sniper is definately NOT a POS. On the other hand, I would not be throwing out that kind of cash for those scopes either. I would throw the cash toward a PST though.

I will be picking up another 16X SS this weekend, and they are definately worth having and are as tough as they come.

Re: PICKING OUT A NEW SCOPE

I'm sort of puzzled that you want either a SFP MOA scope, or an FFP MIL scope. That's like polar opposites right there.
Getting good glass is important, but I think it's important to narrow down exactly what features you need. Don't just get good glass to get it. Get it because it does what you need it to.

Re: PICKING OUT A NEW SCOPE

I shoot tactical matches from 100-800 yards and class F.know they are really 2 different scopes.which one do you think is better for that application. Or spend less money on a NF or LEUPY

Re: PICKING OUT A NEW SCOPE

to z71rat my SS does not track as good as everyone seems to clam they do.Yea I know SWFA will take care of iy so I have heard. If they wouls actually fix the one i have would be great. but I am sure they would just send me another brand new one that probaley does the exact same thing

You might be able to upgrade, and stay within the same price range. I checked GunBroker.com and they have a pretty good selection

Maaaybe, one day I'll be able to upgrade

Some Nikons and SWFA are $300 and they have never been considered SHIT by those who know something about optics. Roll your pinky back down and do your homework...

Re: PICKING OUT A NEW SCOPE

Which super sniper do you have? Ive had two and I thought they were great, especially for the money. I started with a 16x and wanted something that would track alittle easier so I got a 10x with the side focus. I doubt ill ever put another scope on my rifle, for the price this scope is awesome. It is comparable to scopes worth 2 and 3 times its price.

Re: PICKING OUT A NEW SCOPE

Save 1500 of your budget and spend on ammo. You can get a nice piece of Glass for around 1k. Heard lots of good on the 10x42hd SS. Hell even try out Bush's new FFP model. Just think it'd be crazy to dump 2500 on one you dont even know you'd like.

Rude.. but it did make me chuckle.. sorry.

If you shoot tactical matches I'd say FFP with mil/mil would be your best option as most spotters will call in mil and makes things easier.

Whatever you do make sure your reticle and turrets match. Lots of good options out there, just pick the specs that meet your needs and go shopping. Nightforce comes to mind as one of the better values for features, and they have the new MLR2 reticle. Vortex Razor is an option as well. Lower end are the new Bushnell 4200 FFP Mil/Mil.

It's your money, so spend it how you like. If you think after you get the SS HD 10x you may wish you had got the F1 or other.. then go for what you want the first time and be done.

Re: PICKING OUT A NEW SCOPE

I think it might be wise for you to step back just a little and read the sticky at the top of the page titled "optics selection" by trigger monkey.
I have found this to be very useful in matching shooters up to optics.
In my opinion if you read that and start making a list of things you want, things you need and then things "I don't know what the hell they are or mean" you will start to get a clearer picture of your needs. If you don't understand a certain thing then use the search.
Your 2 choices are so vastly different that flags are being thrown up- I think a little more time and some regrouping might help you save a lot of money in the long run.

Just my .2 cents
