I even get friends from Wyoming to come up and hang with me......grin!

wonder if he shot that Wolf from the road ?? ;)

In Australia you can only shoot on a certified range, on private property with the owners permission, or some national parks with the proper licence and permission. So I bought 2 rural properties to shoot on.

This is my long distance shooting property:

Nice! When I come to Australia, can i go shooting with you? I'd be happy to buy the ammo....

This is my personal "playground". While not long range it is rather fun. And if you look on the far right of the pic you'll see a 100% IPSC target which is the 1000 yard target from my platform in the corner of my alfalfa field.

This is the 25-50 yard area

Pistol pits also used for comps there are 4 of these

This is the 100-200-300 yard range the trees line is 300 yards. If you look to the rite you will see a tree line further back. That is the end of the 1000yard range.. I was not able to get pics of the 500 yard range today because they were having an F class match today..

These wild turkys were chilling in the 100 yard lane when I got there

There are no range masters and on a busy day you may have to share the range with 2 other shooters

One of the spots I shoot at. I have targets at 100, 400, 800, 1000. Place anywere inbetween as I like.

From my old shooting position

From 1000 yards looking back at shooting position.

Looks like a place I know, about an hour and a half North of Billings. Sure there's lots of places that look similar on the East side.

Here is our 400 yard range in San Antonio. It's the longest we have at my club unfortunately, we have to drive to Best in the West for anything much longer.

Here is a shot through my scope from Best of the West 1000 yard range.

Finally got permission to head out to a 6000 acre ranch today. Found some great spots including this one. Targets are right in the middle of the pic. 2 pallets covered in pallet paper, 12x12" steel, and one 12x24" steel target. 1050 yards to the targets. We were using a leica 1600 to range and in the far left of the picture there's another spot that I'm hoping is close to a mile(wishful thinking). Hopefully my terrapin shows up before I head out again. 1250 is as far as we could get a reading out of the Leica.

I'm really jealous ah! Nor Cal, as anyone who lives (lived) here knows, sucks when it comes to shoot long range precision rifles... There's only one shooting range in my area with 25-50-100-200-300 yards lines (Google screenshot). It's privately owned and operated so they are "flexible" on what you can shoot, as you can see :)

Otherwise, I use the range near by Mt Shasta where they also have 50-100-200-300 yards lines (snow pics).

There is only one 1,000 yards range in Sacramento that I'm dying to shoot at!

Oh there's plenty of places to shoot long range precision rifles in Northern California. You just need to get out and look for them. It may not be a square, maintained range though. I was working on a tower above Lake Shasta and there were several spots there that would have been good for some long range shooting. There's lots of places out side of Redding and Red Bluff too. There's places not too far from my house that I can shoot over a mile.

I live in Marin... Do you know of any spot, places where you can shoot 1 mile + ??

Ha...I grew up in Lucas Valley. You'll want to go to BLM land either up in the Shastas or down towards Hollister at Panoche Hills. Call up the BLM office and ask. That's how I got setup in SoCal years ago.
