Costa on line with students getting some trigger time with his LaRue OBR and Nightforce scope and Aimpoint Micro T1 in a LaRue offset mount:

Kudos to FromMyColdDeadHand, he got some great shots and it looked to be an outstanding event. The thread gives me some new ideas. Did I miss the UBR? Seems like I saw the rest of the Magpul stocks pictured except the UBR.

Thanks for sharing all the pics. Some nice hardware for sure.

What type spotting scope is that you guys were using (SPOTR)?

Re: Pictures from a recent Magpul Dynamics Precision R

If anyone doesn't want an OBR by this point, check your pulse. You might be dead...

The hand-guard looks alot thinner than I imagined. Must have gotten pretty toasty after a few mags, no?

Re: Pictures from a recent Magpul Dynamics Precision R

I didn't experience any issues with heat and we were out in the sun quite a bit. The class was in June and temps were around 100 degrees.

During one stage, the entire class was broken down into 2 man teams. We used Costa's OBR. Each team would run up, shooter 1 would engage 5 targets, then shooter 2 would do the same. Then both students would engage a few targets from another postion with their own rifles.

This stage went fairly quickly, and if there was going to be an issue with the fore end over heating, it would have show it's self on this stage. No issues the handguard getting so hot that it was uncomfortable to hold or touch.

I'm sure if you shot enough rounds down range fast enough you could get the handguard where it was too hot to hold, but experienced no issues in class with 3 different guys running OBR's.

Hope this helps

Re: Pictures from a recent Magpul Dynamics Precision R

Sounds logical. I would never be shooting "mag-dumps" with the hypothetical OBR that I may or may not one day afford for myself. Trying to realize the semi-auto 308's capabilities with a red-dot AND telescopic sight... Can't yet fathom how handy 1 rifle with the DNA of long range and CQB would be in the hypothetical competition shooting I may or may not participate in one day as time/funds allow.

This seems like a pretty hardcore 'precision rifle' course! Definitely not a 'fundamentals of marksmanship' gig. Funny feeling to have a skill-set be so obviously above my head again. So goes life, never stop learning.

Thanks for sharing!

Is Leupold now selling its 1.1-8x scope?
