    Hey guys,
So I'm in the process of rebuilding my Noveske N4 and was about to purchase an AAC 51t Brake. It currently has a pinned and welded 51t flash hider. Here's the problem, the brake is 1.4" and my barrel is 14.5" doing the math 14.5" + 1.4" = 15.9" aka an SBR... So my question is can a crush washers and shims be used to get that extra .1" and then pin and weld it back down? Or would it still be deeded illegal without a stamp?

I am needed the 51t mount for my suppressor. But would also like the brake for practical matches and making loud noises.

Suggestions? Funny noises? Ridiculous comments... I'll wait.

That is a good question, some overly-confidant guy at arfcom I'm sure would throw out an answer of absolutely it would be fine. My tone will be "umm I think it would be fine, but you can never count on level headed thinking from government agencies".

I don't see how it wouldn't be legal, as long as the barrel measures 16" and the brake is welded in place, being as the shims are permanently in place. If you were brought to trial and I was on the jury, I'd rake in the $25 a day for how ever long I needed to, to make sure you were acquitted. The day one of my fellow Americans does time over .1" of barrel length is the day I move to..... I guess everywhere else is nuts too.

Haha appreciate it. I should post this over on an ar forum I guess but I just don't like the way they are set up haha. I'm a stubborn, lets see if anyone else comes along to answer this seemingly simple question, if not time to put in a call to someone who does know.

Yes it is compatible with my suppressor. However when shooting practical comps and stuff the flash hider is pretty useless. A break would suit the ideas behind this rebuild much better. My thoughts were shim it a bit long while making sure it's in full contact with the threads, pin/weld and call it a day.

ya I know, I'm just kinda on the line about the brakeout. I contacted a good friend of mine at the ATF and talked with him as well as a 'smith. They stated as long as the barrel comes ou to 16" im good to go. So it looks like it will just get shimmed and put on by a smith to make sure is concentric.
