I know the DI system vents pressure into the back of the bolt to start the cycle. Does the piston system use only the camming action?
I'm pondering a suppressed .300Blackout SBR bulid as my first foray into the NFA world, and have heard that suppressed rifles can give you a face full of gas and crud. So I was thinking about doing a piston system. Is the gas-in-the-face really a problem with suppressed ARs?
