I know the DI system vents pressure into the back of the bolt to start the cycle. Does the piston system use only the camming action?

I'm pondering a suppressed .300Blackout SBR bulid as my first foray into the NFA world, and have heard that suppressed rifles can give you a face full of gas and crud. So I was thinking about doing a piston system. Is the gas-in-the-face really a problem with suppressed ARs?

Gas in the face is silencer dependent. Lots of designs have low back=pressure and little gas. in face and I am LH.

If you want piston I would strongly look at pws. I've owned 2 pws rifles. One being a 300blk which was my first suppressed gun. Traded it for a daniel defense, and now back to a pws mod 2 mk118. I dont think I will be going back to a di gun unless I have to for caliber purposes. Pws runs so much cleaner, less blowback, and they just flat out shoot. Adjust your gas setting and go to town

I will second that I have had stellar performance with my PWS in 7.62x39 suppressed. My buddy has one in 308 and 6.5 as well both run like tops.
