Plane Down in Alaska - VIP's Onboard

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/...a-friends-say/1

The Associated Press, quoting an unidentified U.S. government official, reports that Alaska authorities have been told that former senator Ted Stevens was aboard a small plane that crashed Monday night.

The official says Stevens condition is unknown, the AP reports. The National Transportation Safety Board says in a statement that at least 5 of the 8 or 9 people aboard the plan were killed in the crash about 320 miles southwest of Anchorage.

Former NASA chief Sean O"Keefe was also aboard the plane, according to EADS North America, where he serves as CEO, the AP says. O'Keefe's condition was also unknown.

Pretty sure his conviction was overturned. Maybe just on a technicality. But everyone should play by the rules, even the feds.

Pretty sure a lot of folks in Alaska thought a lot of this man, he's a WWII vet. No matter what you think of him, a bit of respect is due him and his family.

Sounds like he was pretty dirty regardless. He surely didn't play by the "rules." He's the Bridge to Nowhere guy.

Re: Plane Down in Alaska - VIP's Onboard

He did what all politicians do, and what the citizens of Alaska elected him to do. That is funnel federal funds, etc to his home state. All politicians do this. It's obscene and I have no use for any of them.

That said he is a vet, a father, a son (tho I'm pretty sure his parents are long gone) a husband, a grandpa. No reason to speak poorly of the dead. It reflects poorly on you, and maybe even on this site cause this is the venue you choose to use. But you have already stated your opinion. This is mine.

While normally I would agree, this guy chose to commit crimes against all of us and on a massive scale. Feel bad for his family but not him... Many people chalk deaths up to karma (which is what I said) and all of them had families and the other points you mentioned in common so I'm not sure why there is special consideration give to this guy??

Ya you don't know what your talking about! I take Great Offense to that shit ass statement. Ted was a Great Man, a Great American and a Great Alaskan! He was set up and that whole conviction thing was Bullshit! His conviction was overturned because the government asshole lawyers held evidence from everyone. So Sport! Keep your crap hole shut, because you don't know shit! My prayers are to the whole family and to the other families.

In the eyes of the law, it's exactly what it means. Prosecutors have to play by the rules too. Can't prove he broke he law while acting within the boundaries set forth by the legal system, then you aren't proving guilt. Your opinions regarding his guilt may be very valid to you, but mean nothing in a court of law.

Whoa, BP medicine! When I made my statement about karma I didn't realize that it had been overturned due to scumbag lawyers. FOX news just reported that he was a felon and what he did, they made no mention over the course of several hours of watching the event unfold of it being overturned so I had no idea. We all make snap judgments, mine was premature based on faulty/incomplete information. I did spend sometime this am reading his bio on Wikipedia and just is the case in most people of power from Alaska, they tend to be pretty good.

The prosecutor with held evidence that may have proved his innocence, or at least would have made a difference in the outcome of the trial. You apparently don't understand much about this. The prosecution had no case, the results of the trial were thrown out. The verdict overturned. He was not found to be guilty. The prosecution could not prove their case without with holding evidence.

Your statements regarding this and the late Senator Stevens tell more about you and your character than any words I could use.

We're arguing apples and oranges here and you fail to see it, while slinging insults. You are arguing about prosecutor misconduct and withholding evidence, I'm simply saying that regardless of the case against him in the legal sense he may or may not have actually done the physical act.

Here's an example: If I tell you that your reading comprehension sucks and a court of law finds me not guilty, it doesn't mean that I didn't tell you that your reading comprehension sucks. Apples and Oranges.

As for your bias statement against my position, use those limited aforementioned skills of yours and read my response to Alaska-man...

No! It's simple, you will not Piss on a Great Alaskan! Shit like that might be ok in the lower 48, but it's not ok here!
