Rifle Scopes Please explain

Ok guys a little confusion here.
A scope is 1/4 MOA per click at 100yd. that means 1/4" apox?
When we go to 200yd is it going to be 1/2" MOA per click?

Yes and no...

The clicks are always a 1/4" , the distance they move the strike is what changes.

For instance, if you need 2MOA for your 200 yard dope, you don't dial 4 clicks, you dial 8 clicks... you dial it from the scope not the distance.

If you need 11 MOA for 500 yards, you dial 11 MOA at the scope, and not what it does downrange.

1 moa at 100= 1 inch

1 moa at 200= 2 inch

SO, 1/4 of 2 inches is your answer, 1/2 inch at 200 yards will be what a 1/4 MOA adjustment will give you down range

It'll still be 1/4 MOA, but it'll be 1/2" at 200 yards.

1 click at the scope will double point of impact for every hundred yards
1 click 100=1/4
1 click 200=1/2
1 click 300=1
??

No, you are wrong again...

100 = 1/4
200 = 1/2
300 = 3/4
400 = 1"...

You are increasing the whole number by the click value

1MOA @ 300 = 3"
so on and so on....

1 click always equals 1/4 MOA, regardless of distance...

1 click (1/4MOA) at 100 = .25"
1 click (1/4MOA) at 200 = .50"
1 click (1/4MOA) at 300 = .75"
so on and so on...

2 clicks (1/2MOA) at 100 = .5"
2 clicks (1/2MOA) at 200 = 1"
2 clicks (1/2MOA) at 300 = 1.5"
so on and so on...

That is correct, you add 1/4" every 100.

An MOA is an agular measurement. Think of a triangle, the angle stays the same, but the further away you get from that angle, the further apart the lines get.


This is the answer. Same angle, the longer the distance, the more the spread.

barney style-

1 moa equals the yard distance like this

1moa @ 100= 1 inch
@ 200= 2 inch
@ 300= 3 inch
@ 400= 4 inch
@ 500= 5 inch
@ 600= 6 inch
@ 700= 7 inch
@ 800= 8 inch
@ 900= 9 inch
@ 1,000= 10 inches

NOW, 1/4 MOA of adjustment on your scope means with each click you will get 1/4 of the inch value at whatever distance, see chart above

Oh, and a MOA does not equal 1" at 100 yards, but we will get into that later.
