I am a new shooter to the PRS world. I have a VIPER PST GEN II on my RPR 6.5 Creedmoor.
Since I am impressed with their quality for the money, warranty, and the discounts on EXPERTVOICE for service members, I was called a "VORTEX FANBOY".
I giggled at that, and will own it 100%!!
I have realized that I need to get my own spotting gear. I bought a tripod that I am happy with. But, my cheap ass 10 year old spotting scope isn't up to par for this game.
I have narrowed it down to VORTEX KAIBAB 18x56 for $780 or FURY HD 5000 10x42 for $960.
My thought is buy the KAIBAB for the larger magnification and view, then worry about a range finder later, if I ever really find the need for one. But, it was suggested to me in passing at a match that I seriously consider the FURY.
I appreciate any help with this decision.

I'm kind of in the same place you are. I'd love to have a set of LRF Binos, but a higher power set for spotting is appealing as well. My only Bino experience to this point is my Tract Toric 10x which have been great. Being that you are on EV, you may want to consider Bushnell as well. Although not on EV at this point, the 15x Forge binos are getting great reviews, especially from a value aspect, and may be on EV soon.

For the PRS game I like the recommendation of the Vortex Fury 5000 and a rangefinder is a handy thing to have. You can make do without it if you have to, but verifying target ranges as you scout out a stage is a nice thing. You can also use it to make sure you are looking at the right target when you know the range, such as when you have multiple target arrays and you aren't sure which one is 500 vs 600 yards. 10x is not going to do full spotting scope duty, but it is enough that you can locate targets, watch others shoot and see if they are missing left/right, etc. Overall the binos would fall in the category of an individual shooting tool to help you prep for your stage.

If your stronger preference is on the spotting side, ie needing to be the squad RO and score for other shooters, watching mirage or trying to pick apart 6mm bullet impacts at 1000+ yards then I'd lean toward the Kaibab. It will definitely do better at that.
