I would think that would be ok if the land wasn't posted or depending on your state laws.

In Idaho you have to be a certain number of yards off the road . I believe its 100 Yards but would have to look it up to be sure .

Re: Poachers caught on video!!! Funny stuff.

That's hilarious... LOL @ stupidity. If it were several years ago, I could see shooting a deer out of season to feed your family. I would think that nobody who had to do that would drive around with a rifle ready to go at the first sign of a deer standing on the side of the road... Wow.

Same here in ND... not sure how far 'in-field' a person needs to be though.

Im thinking the area these guys are in, has had some type of reported tresspassing, or poaching. And I dont know our laws in KY but I do know you cant shoot within xxx ft of a public road. So if they got out of the truck and shot, they might be less punished. The ones inside the vehicle probably got some big fines.

Re: Poachers caught on video!!! Funny stuff.

I have some experience with these types of sting operations, when I was on a junior hunting permit the guy I was hunting with, an older friend, unloaded both of his barrels into a DEC turkey decoy while standing in the road behind the car. Needless to say my parents were non to happy when I got dropped off at the house by the two DEC officers.

One thing I remember them saying is that if Mark had walked like 20 feet off of the shoulder of the road and shot their decoy they would have just called him a retard instead of taking the guns and slapping him with a ton of fines and all that.

Re: Poachers caught on video!!! Funny stuff.

Strick, you should always attempt an open field tackle on a deer to make sure it isnt a game warden sting.

Re: Poachers caught on video!!! Funny stuff.

Years ago while escorting my wife on her cow elk hunt we came across a IDFG cow elk decoy. I tried to convince her to park around the corner and use it for target practice but she wouldn't

That would have woken the boys up if she would have snuck over the hill and popped it with the 338WM. Nothing they could have done about it. (off the road, public land, not shooting towards the road,...target practice on their $10k robo elk

) I do support their efforts to stop the scumbags in their tracks though...but still the look on their faces would have been priceless.

Where I live, all you have to do is get out of the vehicle and be one pace from the road.

150 yards from any building or road in KY.

That shit cracked me up... If you're going to go illegal you might as well give yourself a better chance of taking the animal. Jeez.

Marlin 22WMR. Second most-loved rifle of poachers everywhere. The first is any good bolt gun in .22 Hornet. .22 Short works, too, but you have to be within 25yds, and hit them between the eye and the ear. ( At least that's what I've heard.

What really pisses me off, is that guy with the black power rifle is teaching his son his same bullshit! Just another prime piece of ammo for the antis!

Re: Poachers caught on video!!! Funny stuff.

That was hilarious, especially the Crockett boys and their Musket. I'm down here in TX and have actually caught some guys that jumped my uncle's ranch fence. Its funny on camera, but it still pisses me off.

Re: Poachers caught on video!!! Funny stuff.

Here in Texas you go to jail. Most all the land is private here, but either private or public land is illegal to hunt from the road. They will confiscate anything used in carrying out the dirty deed. Your truck, your gun and anything in the truck. You will also be condemned from getting a hunting license again. So, is it worth it?
