Are you serious?!?!? The lack of common sense with people amazes me sometimes.

Hopefully your friends were a little smarter than that and realized that using a mil-spec (i.e. - 223/5.56) rifle buffer and spring in a .308/7.62 AR-type rifle is generally a bad idea!! The good Lord provideth 308-specific parts for a reason, people...USE THEM!!

They were factory built guns and ftf on the 1st round so I thought this might be the answer. Maybe its not?

Uh...not likely the source of failures to feed ONLY on a first-round situation. Using the lighter, longer .223/5.56 rifle buffer/spring is responsible for failures in 308 rifles because the longer buffer will not allow the BCG to retract into the buffer tube far enough to engage the bolt stop for LRBHO and may result in failures of the BCG to pick up a round from the mag after firing/ejecting a spent case.

Also, as far as "factory" failures...are you sure that your "friends" even have rifle-length stocks/receiver extensions/buffers (like standard A2 stocks or the Magpul PRS stocks)? 99.9% of all the POF P-308 factory rifles I have seen, including their longer barreled rifles, are equipped with VLTOR E-MOD or I-MOD collapsible stocks using carbine receiver extensions. I think that the link you provided is for people who have switched to non-collapsible stocks using A2/Rifle-length buffer tubes. Apparently, some people who made the switch were absent from line the day brains were passed out and just "figured" it would be a good idea to use 223 components (like rifle buffers and springs) in their 308s or otherwise failed to ask which would be the appropriate parts and just "assumed" that a "rifle buffer/spring" will work regardless of caliber it was designed for.

If your friends are continuing to experience failures with their rifles, I am sure that POF will be glad to inspect them and fix any problems that aren't related to improper ammo, operator error, etc.

Re: POF 308 FTF fix

When I did the research before i switched to a PRS - i came across an article or 2 on AR15 that said to use the .308 DPMS A2 buffer and buffer spring. If i remember right, it was a response from Frank at POF. It worked like a charm. Also Pmags or the new C-Products magazines work just fine. Make sure you watch that you don't bend the feed lips on the mags by shoving them up in hard like i did. You have to bend them back out (with a tool if you want to be precise). Otherwise, if they are left bent down, the rounds will feed too low and jam.
