POF Renegade ??

Greetings! I currently bought the POF Renegade plus in 5.56 earlier this year & although I can't speak of the one in 7.62x39 I can tell you the pros and cons of having owned and shot well over 3k rounds.

Cons
-Renegade plus is $$$ I paid $1,800 with tax at calibers in Albuquerque NM you can get a better deal online I.e. Tombstone tactical.
- with a DBal i2, Acog and light the rifle can get heavy especially with the 16.5 barrel.
-you can have any size barrel you want as long as it's 16.5ins.
- The rifles a real head turner around other people.
- this is subjective but for me the rail was too thick. I swapped it out for an SLR

Pros
-it's a real head turner around other people.
- it's accurate. Very ridiculously accurate.
- out of 3k rounds I've not had one jam or malfunction. This might be due to the E extraction technology inside the chamber?
-The fit and finish is flawless on every POF I looked at. They pay attention to the details, everything is stamped with the date and year it was made, the Robar NP3 finish on the bolt easily wipes off & their rifles are made with an almost OCD attention to detail.
-the dictator adjustable gas system is awesome. Although I've never had to mess with it even when I threw a can on, it's nice to know I can adjust the gas system if need be.
- idk about the mil-spec trigger but their upgraded trigger on the plus w/3.5lbs pull was the first major reason why I picked POF over Daniel defense, LaRue and LWRC when I was buying. The trigger just felt good. I definitely recommend you upgrade the trigger if you don't go Ren plus.
- the POF Renegade plus has a fully ambi lower with a machined lower and upper is forged. The Renegade upper & lower is both forged w/ no ambi lower controls.
- the np3 bolt is just an amazing piece of machinery. Yes it's different than a USGI bolt but if you look it up you'll see why. I intend to take out the bolt carrier group and replace it with POF's.
-POF rifles can easily handle Tula and wolf ammo with no issues.
- on the Ren Plus, the lower has two nylon screws so you can adjust the upper and lower with this my rifle feels like it's one solid piece with no rattle between upper & lower.

Through my research I wanted a 21st century AR and POF was the only company that met that with their NP3 coats BCG, E2 extraction technology, sub moa guarantee, suburb fit and finish, and everything else I mentioned.
There are a ton of other great AR makers out there. I'm sure you know who they are. I felt though that those companies made a great 20th century rifle. POF makes a amazingly superb 21st century rifle.
So although I can speak on just the Renegade, if you can get the Renegade plus. You won't regret it. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

I tried to add pics of my set up but no luck
looking at the website I don't think POF offers the GEn 4 ambi lower. If you don't care about ambi controls, I highly recommend switching out their milspec trigger for one of the upgraded ones.
And to simplify things, yes the POF should easily be able to eat up that case of Tiger ammo (especially with the adjustable gas system) and you can abuse the shit outta it and it'll still run. Although once you feel and see how well built it is you might have second thoughts on throwing the thing in a pond or dragging it behind a truck lol. Either way you're good to go! Stay safe.

Thank you for the reply, and yes it is unfortunate that the Renegade 7.62x39 doesn't come with the full Ambi lower but it's also only 1250 to 1300.. and for that price I can add Ambi controls and luckily I have some quality triggers in the spare parts box along with a few muzzle brakes.

I'm actually pretty excited about this purchase, I plan on adding some quality BUIS and a Aimpoint and call it good.

All of my rifles are precision rifles based on long range shooting, so to finally get some fun tear shit up rifles I'm pretty excited.

I just ordered a new SR15 14.5 with the MAMS Brake that will get some nice upgrades as well.

Always been curious about KAC's barrels.. they say they'e cut rifled chrome lined tubes. Does KAC make those in-house? How's their quality/accuracy compared to other top tier CL barrels - Noveske/FN, Criterion, Colt SOCOM, the old Rock Creek/Dennys operator, etc..??

I've only ever owned Colt and KAC, and IMO I don't think anyone comes close to the quality of KAC, my last SR15 was a .6 MOA Rifle

I own numerous POF rifles and every one of them have plan out ran and been accurate and reliable. I co mete and use these rifles and I highly recommend them to anyone. The 308 Revolution is a bad ass machine as well.

Damn that's impressive.. Do you know if KAC makes these in house or are they chrome lined Rock Creeks(or possibly some other company's) like some others have done before?

KAC contracts out their barrels, it's like the only thing they do contract out I think, but they typically use high end cut rifled barrels like Obermeyer or Krieger. They do offer some chrome lined; the "battle version" of the SR25 has a lighter 16" chrome lined, but cut rifled barrel. My 20" isn't chrome lined but is cut. KAC also uses mostly proprietary parts; it's really a misnomer to call one an AR anymore. They look like one, but really aren't. Few parts outside rails and stocks and shit will work on one. None of the guts will except the trigger group. Even the grip on the SR25 is slightly different.

The suppressor they use is one of the best designed I've seen, on par at least with Sico Saker. It's fairly light, solid, it INDEXES where most don't, locks on tight via ball bearings but can also take abuse. Most cans are good for one or the other, either accuracy or abuse. KAC mags are top notch, enough said. In fact, the whole damn kit was impressive, I almost wish I'd just saved and dropped the coin on the M110 deployment kit with hardcase, dragbag, mags, can, scope and all the other shit. They're that nice, and they fucking work.

They come sub MOA or they don't come at all. They all come with the test target. I can't recall if a guy just shoots it, or if they put it in a Ransom rest and do it that way. I saw it once but forget.

My SR25 tested at .98"@100y... But that was a few rounds in a new barrel and they shot 168's, I'm suspecting it'll do better with proper handloads and 175's.

IMO, Noveske makes some of the highest quality shit out there, for .300BLK I ONLY use their barrels. Mostly because in addition to being accurate, they function regardless of suppressor or not, subs or supers and it apparently doesn't matter what the load is either. Even dry they don't hiccup. Oh, and I don't use adj. gas blocks or any of that shit, I may use an H2 buffer if need be but that's it. If it doesn't work on it's own, I'm not depending on it, I'm not depending on something I have to fucking tweak because IME it becomes untweaked when you need it most.

Satern cut the best barrel I have/ever used. It's a no-shit ten shot group .33MOA 6.5G rifle. I got the barrel when he was at the top of his game and selling mostly to alphabet soup agencies. IF you can score one, they are WELL worth it. IF you can somehow broker a goddamn deal with his wife somehow, they can even cut rifling to .001"! Just note I've been waiting four years on one barrel and I don't really expect it to show up any time soon. But he does make large orders and if the twist works and the length is right, GET IT. Midway and others buy his barrels in bulk and that's a good way to score one.

Lilja makes what I consider to be the best button rifled barrel, they better be since they cost almost as much as a cut rifle. The Recce barrel for the M4 is damn nice (the one the Navy uses?).

But KAC has been my go-to since I was in the Army. Their shit never let me down and KAC has always been a stand up company for me. Others complain, but I have a military account with them and I know a lady there that's now in charge of shit so I've been able to even replace broken shit free of charge. The designs, the engineering, the workmanship, it all shows with KAC.
