Sidearms & Scatterguns Polymer Pistol Triggers

Out of the box, the best polymer trigger I've ever worked was on a Walther P99 AS, or "anti-stress" trigger version. It has two settings approximating, for lack of a desire at 0700 to fully explain, DA and SA, which is easily stepped back to DA or set to SA. Of course, I also had it fail to go into battery on me towards the end of a three day clinic, which got remedied by LRT ... log range tool ... *THWACK*.

stop for a moment and appreciate the click of the Glock Factory 5 1/2 pound trigger breaking

Close your eyes and hear the trigger reset...

The Glock has fewer parts than a 1911
The Glock does not break like the 1911
The Glock will not suffer stoppages from dirt like the 1911
The Glock does not cost anywhere near a 1911
The Glock does not rust like the 1911
The Glock will never, nor should you attempt to make it, have the trigger of a 1911

I have gotten use to the polymer frame guns- trigger and reset...

I shoot them as well as a pistol I own with a match trigger...

I am NOT a fan of aftermarket triggers and connectors for poly guns

Triggers, like almost anything is an extremely subjective subject. I've been competing for close to 40 years, first shooting IPSC, then USPSA and now both USPSA and IDPA. For almost 30 of those years competed with a 1911, the last decade almost all poly. You will never get a poly gun to have the same feel trigger as a tuned 1911. That said, you can get a really fine trigger on a poly gun. The Apex forward set sear and trigger combo turns a Smith M & P into a incredible gun. The Walther PPQ can be run competitively out of the box, fantastic stock trigger. The Springfield XDMs, with some parts from Springer Precision, can be awesome. The Glocks can be fantastic with some polishing and a connector. It's all the Indian, not the arrow! I want a trigger that's consistent, breaks at 3.5 to 4.5 lbs with a short reset and not much over-travel. Too many fellows put too much emphasis on trigger break and trigger squeeze. Learn to hold the gun like it owes you money, really strong grip, break the trigger so the sights don't move, and your shots will go where your front sight is pointed. It's really that simple! Took me about 20 years of chasing performance to figure that out! :) Now I mostly shoot a G34 with about a 4 lb trigger and can be very competitive.

Thanks for that Mike.
The Glock is out. I will look at a PPQ and probably buy a S&W 2.0 5" 9mm. I have plenty of ammo and my mantra will be your words. I am optimistic. My 1911's pull my pants down these days.

I’ll tell you the worst polymer trigger I’ve ever felt: The HK 45. What an absolute turd. Gun is supposed to replace the USP Tactical, which has an awesome trigger. Looks nice and all but just a terrible execution

Both have metal triggers with polymer frames. Hence polymer pistol trigger. Have I misunderstood the topic of the thread? ??‍♂️ Shit-balls.
I wasn’t sure myself. I know the pistols are polymer but I don’t know if they meant plastic triggers too. Most of the triggers are indeed made from polymer, but the 320 variants are a rare exception

Glock factory triggers can be made very acceptable with a few relatively inexpensive mods. Replace trigger bar with a smooth face trigger and no bump on trigger bar. Install 4.5 lb [aka 3.5 lb] connector and six lb trigger spring. Polish all contact surfaces of trigger bar, connector and cruciform. or simply shoot 5.000 rounds until it smooths out.

honestly, the glock trigger is pretty damn good.......i dont know why people bitch about it.

SW MP triggers are absolute shit.....come to think of it ALL of SW poly frame triggers are shit.

Sig 320 triggers are absolute shit.

HK VP9 triggers are pretty good.

Springfield XD triggers are ok.

i dont know why so many companies release guns with shitty triggers.......when it honestly doesnt cost much more to just put a decent trigger in it...

im assuming the only reason SW makes shit triggers is so they can give business to APEX....which they now own.
