Has anyone around here purchased a portable shooting stand?
I am looking to set something up on our property, but with the idea that I won’t be leaving it outside. It may never get moved past the garage or storage building out to the shooting are. But it would be nice if I could also take it over to my cousins or uncles house when we are plinking around.
This is one of those things I haven’t seen discussed as much on forums. Thanks!

I found a used Caldwell locally here and it works fine for a portable. I’d like a solid shooting bench but...I don’t shoot in the same place every time.

Here are a couple that seem sturdy that I've been looking to use concepts from, no actual experience w/them:

Yeah. Those were the first two I saw when researching after seeing some at Cabela’s. Those really got me wondering if anybody has used anything otherwise them or even the ones I have seen at the store. Curious how any of them have been working out for people. Those couple are expensive compared to some in the store, but they seem much more heavy duty too.

I love mine and take it every time I go shooting, even when I shoot at a range that has them already. I designed it for Left or right handed shooters and my son welded it up. Three legs so it doesn’t wobble. It has a carpeted top on 5/8” exterior plywood with a drummers seat. I just mounted a piece of wood across it (adjustable) so I can put a better load on the bipod. I shopped around and didn’t find one that best meets my needs unless I spent a ton of money.

We also shoot prone but my old body likes shooting from the bench better.

Any plans for the one you made, sir? The links are $600-$1,000 which is above my budget so if the Herter's commercial models do not fit the bill I may end up doing what you did and making one.

We make them out of a single sheet of 3/4" plywood.
5 piece design. Lay out the pieces off of the blueprint, use circular saw and jig saw
to cut out shapes.

Took about 3 hours or so. Works good. Easy to store and travel with.

Cost varies depending on what plywood used.. I chose oak veneer, was about $60 from
Menards.
